The snow was earlier this winter, Stonecroft was covered by a soft white layer of snow. While on one site you could see a man shoveling the snow from his yard on the other were children playing in it. Tessa shook her head at the passing people, they were rushed. Most of them were carrying bags with Christmas gifts. She didn't like Christmas for exactly this reason, everybody pretended to have a joyful, thoughtful and loving time while they rushed from shop to shop, fought for the latest Double-Sparkle-Doll Deluxe or spend way to much money making up for the time spend at the office. At least all those busy people needed coffee or a piece of pastry, she thought while pushing open the door to Gwen's Coffee. It was filled up to the last seat, steaming cups spread on the tables. In front of the main desk a line was waiting to get their coffee or pastry. " Finally, your here !" the barista yelled. " Thank god, I think they´ll kill me if they don´t get their stuff soon. Tessa, get your ass out of my face" She shoved her over after the short-haired woman shoved herself behind the counter. " You better watch your mouth Helen, I own this shop remember? And if I wanna shove my ass in your face I can do it." Tessa joked at her employee while handing out orders. " No, you can´t, because that´s called sexual harassment! " a little girl explained. Helen laughed and Tessa picked up the Girl. " I see, I informed you right. How was your last school day before Christmas Stella ?" she asked the red-haired girl in her arms. "It was great, I met a cute dog. Sams babysitter picked her up and she has a dog. He is so fluffy and Tes I really want a dog for Christmas!" she started to bubble out her day at school. This little bean, Tessa thought setting her back on ground. She loved her niece Stella to the moon and back but not enough to buy her a huge ball of fur which would make as much work as Stella. " We talked about this almost everyday. No dog, no cats, no pets" she explained again, making Stella frown. On the other side of town, a husky was strolling around the dog park. His owner sat on one of the benches. Leaning on her was a huge bag full of Christmas presents. "Winnie, we gotta going otherwise I'll turn into a snowman and you don't wanna have a snowman as a human. Am I right" she asked her dog. Winnie jumped up and down next to her, she counted
it as a yes. Her bare hand clipped in the dogs Christmas themed leash and left the park on the main street. "Hey Jules, Hey Winnie!" A girl greeted them from the other sidewalk. There wasn't much people out for this time of the year. Everyone in Stonecroft took a day of from work to go shopping, well almost everyone. Jules babysat for a friend of her aunt today and the shop owners were working too. Jules stopped before the local Coffee shop, a hot cocoa would be the perfect warming right now. However the line was way to long and it wasn't far home so she could have a coffee there. As she wanted to continue her way home Winnie ran. He made the leash slip out of her glove and on the floor. He took of in such a speed, she could not just catch him. So she chased him, down the road left. Right as she thought she would have to give up she crashed into something or someone.
Stars were dancing in front of Tessa. It took her a second to figure out what just happened. Stella was looking out of the shops window when she run thru the kitchen thru the backdoor. Tessa's maternal instinct kicked in and she ran after her. After she left the cafe something hit her hard. "Stella ! Don´t you dare to ever take off like that again." Tessa looked at her, Stella didn´t seemed like she cared what her aunt told her, she was hugging a huge dog. " Winnie, come here!" a girl commanded the dog. " Could you please keep your daughter from my dog! She...Oh hey you´re Sams friend, Stella right ? Saying meeting you is a pleasure would be a lie, I´m still seeing stars." the girl reached out to shake Stella's hand. " Tessa" the short-haired woman answered. " You could be a little more careful where you run." Tessa complained, touching her forehead. " Tessa, look up" Stella squealed pointing on hand upwards to a green branch. " You´re standing under a mistletoe! You two must kiss." her little voice grew even more excited. Both women raised their heads, Stella was right, above their heads was a mistletoe handing on a string connected to the back door of the coffeehouse. " Stella!" Tessa was embarrassed. It was no secret that she was a lesbian, everyone in Stonecroft knew it but this girl was way to young for her. " Uhm, you
