Telling the family

A/N: Yes, I decided to post early. It's not going to happen very often, but I just felt like editing this story today.

Sophie sobbed as quietly as she possibly could as the elixir put Keefe to sleep.

How? She thought. How had our plan fallen apart so quickly?

The plan was originally only supposed to take a couple months, but about a month ago Fitz asked for an extension. He had said that he'd found something groundbreaking. Something special. Something about Sophie.

More tears slipped down her face as she thought of the mental conversation they'd had.

Sophie. I found something. Something big.

What do you mean 'something big'? Like an object?

No...I can't tell you what it is telepathically.

Ok...how long do you think it'll be? Only a couple months, right?

...

Fitz?

...I need a time extension...

What!?! Why!?!

Sophie, I don't know exactly what I found. It has something to do with you, and I need to figure I to what it is! Sophie, they have secrets that only you and I know!

Wait...do they know about the-

YES!

B-but I only told you...

They know things, Sophie. They know secrets we've told each other. Things only a few of our trusted friends know.

Fitz-

I have to go. Gethen's coming.

That had been when he severed their connection.

Sophie rallied up all the concentration she could, and tried to find Fitz's mind. She pushed her consciousness to places she'd never been, places she had been, places she'd never knew existed.

But still no Fitz.

Another round of sobs overtook her, her body shaking violently with each one.

Sophie didn't know how long she'd slept, or when she'd fallen asleep.

But she did know when she woke up.

She was still on the floor, with her head on Keefe's lap.

Wait.

Her head was on Keefe's lap!

She scrambled to stand up, only to fall back down.

She looked up when Keefe stirred. He had been given an elixir, so that shouldn't have waken him up, but she was still worried she'd disturbed him.

She slipped her boots back on, ran her fingers through her hair, and started to leave the healing center.

Just before she left, a feeling of realization hit her.

She had to tell the Vackers.

She turned around and left Keefe a note.

Went to Havenfeild to tell the everyone about Fitz.
Hail me when you wake up (or when Elwin says you can). We need to talk.

She pulled out her home crystal and leaped to Havenfeild.

"Sooo...why are we all here?" Biana asked. "Ooh! Ooh! Is Fitz back!?!"

Sophie tensed up at the mention of Biana's teal eyed brother.

Her voice shook as she began to say, "Guys..."
