I didn't get much more sleep that night, maybe Justin had been partially right after all. But in the morning I laid in my bed, staring at the ceiling, already hearing Megan and Katrina making some food. I could tell they were trying to be quiet, but quiet was never one of Megan's strong suits. I smirked in the darkness, sitting up to get ready for the day. I straightened my clothes out, slipping on my boots and also my armor this time. I took a peek in the mirror I had on the wall, smoothing some of the more erratic pieces of my hair. I smiled at the small crash from the kitchen as Megan dropped something, followed by a yelp from a formerly asleep Felma. I slipped the smaller of my pistols into my pocket, a habit that could save my life one day.
"Morning Warren!" Kat called cheerfully as I stepped out of my room. She was mixing a bowl of something on the counter while Megan sat at the table, counting plates and forks. We all called Katrina the mother of our group, which was a compliment for everything she does. As Justin mentioned last night, she does inventory, but she also takes charge of the cooking, cleaning and such. I always wonder if she wanted to make up for what she couldn't do for us in a battle. Megan on the other hand would probably be the last person you expect to be helping around the house...err... base. But she told me once she enjoyed the routine of it.

"What are you making?" I asked Kat as I walked up to lean on the chair next to Megan's.

"Well, I'm trying to make little omelets, but I don't have everything I normally do." Kat said, contorting her face into a frown.

"Kat, that's when you always make omelets." Megan said laughing. "Whenever we run low, you make omelets because you can throw literally anything in there with eggs and make it delicious." Katrina sighed, setting the bowl on the counter.

"I know, I know. I just always get anxious when the supplies dip down."

"Don't worry, I'm planning on fixing that today. Normally I'd try to wait a few more days but since we might have our hands full then, I'd better do it now." I swished my hair out of my face, which I must say is quite an effective way to enunciate words. Megan smiled at me from the table, throwing a glance in the direction of the guys' room before speaking.

"I'll go with you." She said, her eyes twinkling. Kat spun around smiling, in full mother mode.

"Megan, you don't usually go on supply runs." Megan responded by expertly throwing a fork in Katrina's direction. It missed her arm by about three inches and stuck perfectly into the cabinet, lined up at the same angle as Katrina's arm. She screamed, jumping in the opposite direction, while Megan shook with laughter. I rolled my eyes, doing my best to glare at Megan, but that just made her laugh harder.

"Oh the look on your faces!" She managed to shriek.

"I better go wake the guys up." I said, trying not to burst into laughter myself.

"Tell them breakfast is ready in ten minutes." Kat told me before turning to Megan. "And don't yell at me if you end up with a burnt omelet Megan McCarley." Kat put her hands on her hips, her attempt at being intimidating ruined by her sparkling eyes, and the bit of green vegetable on her cheek. I stifled my laughter, heading over to the guys' room. I nudged open the door just wide enough to slip in, closing it behind me. Since we're underground, there are no windows or other sources of light, so when you turn the electric lights off, it's pitch black. However, this leaves a fun way to wake people up. I reach over and flick the light on quickly, and the results are instantaneous.

"Ahhhh!" Xavier screamed for the second time today, yanking his blanket over his head. Felma barks at me before jumping up on his bed. Her and I have a little agreement about mornings, since she loves yanking the covers off people. Felma gets to work while I turn my attention to Justin.
