17. The Dinner

Someone please kill me!!! I am going to the dinner today and I have nothing to wear!!!!

"V, I am going to die!!!!! I don't know what to wear!!!!!"

"Just send me some pics of your dresses and I'll tell you what to wear" she said rather calmly as if this is not a big problem.

"How could you be so calm??? I'm going crazy here." I whisper scolded her.

"Stop freaking out. It's just a dinner. You'll do just fine."

"I hope so but how can I not freak out when our I'm going to meet him first time after that night. I practically acted as if he is my real boyfriend in front of that guy also I SLAPPED him!!!! What if he thinks I'm a weirdo???...."

"Swara ..."

"You know what... fuck it!!! If he thinks I'm a weirdo then let it be, maybe he'll call off the wedding then. And if he doesn't then he must know what he has to deal with right?? Right. Why aren't you saying anything?? Hello??" I asked when I didn't hear her voice for a while.

"Do you let me?? And yes that's what you're going to do. Be yourself. BTW you still haven't send me pics of your dresses." She replied.

"Since I'm going to be me then I don't need a dress. I'm going to wear what I usually do." I said with a smirk.

"What about your parents??"

"We'll see at that time. Okay bye now I got to get ready. I'll send you my photo when I'm ready."

"Cool. Bye!!"

I put the phone on my bed and start to look through my closet. Since I'll be the real me then I'll wear my usual jeans and top.

I picked out a black jeans white shirt and a denim jacket to complete the look, letting my hair loose and putting a pink lip gloss. I took a picture and sent it to V and her reply came immediately (to my surprise) saying it's perfect.

At first when Maa saw me she wanted me change in something else but I told her that I will go in this only or I won't go. Eventually they agreed but for that I had to fight a lot. We went to his house and Shreya opened the door immediately crushing me into a hug. We went to dinning room directly as it was already past 8.

Aarsh's Dadaji and Dad sat on the far most ends of the table. On one side of Dad was Mom and on the other side was Papa with Maa on his side and my brother beside her. Shreya sitting on one side of Dadaji and beside My brother. On the other side of Dadaji I am sitting with Aarsh by my side.

"Swara beta, your 3rd year is about to complete and you must have to do internship???" Dadaji asked and I replied with a nod. Everyone stopped their talking and turned towards us. "Where have you planned to take it?? Have you searched some companies or courses you are interested in??"

"No I haven't decided yet. I was thinking of attending a training based on Python though. Its really in a boom right now."

"Well... Then why don't you join our company?? I heard Aarsh needed an assistant, right Aarsh??" He asked Aarsh.

" Yes. I do need one as mine is going to retire soon, so she wanted me to have a new one so she can teach them before she leaves and  then afterwards their won't be any problem." He replied blankly but confusion took over me.

"Retire?? Why??" I asked looking from Aarsh to Dadaji.

"You see... when I left the company and Aarsh came, he didn't had any experience neither Raghav had time to teach him. So instead of letting him learn on his own and making mistakes, I assigned my previous secretary and his grandmother's best friend as his assistant or like his mentor. But now she is about to retire as she is also of my age. Well she also has a right to, right??" He asked with a light chuckle on the last line and I nodded in understanding. "So... Do you want to join the company as his assistant, I mean you eventually have to so why not now, right??" Dadaji stopped and all eyes where on me.

So they want me to join a company that runs 'I don't know what' all over the world as the assistant of... Wait what's Aarsh's position again?? Well whatever... they want me as the assistant of someone important in the company. ME an undergraduate engineering student who have zero work experience. Why me?? Someone kill me.

"Agh... I'm sorry but I don't think that I can. The internship I need to do must be in some technical sector. And I don't think I'll be the right prson for that." I said cautiously.

"Don't be silly. Why won't you be??And even if you really are not them Pratibha will make you. And as for the training in technical sector, that wouldn't be a problem. We can fix your training hours and other than that you can work as his secretary. Ek teer se do nishane." He replied like telling me there is no way out.

"Yes bhabhi that will be perfect. You and Bhai can even spend more time together this way. Right Dadaji??" Shreya interjected.

"Exactly!!!!" Dadaji smiled.

"Can...can I think about it??" I asked quietly looking at my hands.

"Of course you can beta, but I want a yes" Dadaji replied with a light laugh. And I replied with a small smile.

The rest of the dinner went by quickly without any other surprise until, suddenly Shreya asked something to my father which I have not even thought in my wildest dream.

"Uncle, can Bhabhi stay here for tonight?? Please??" 

She asked and at first everyone was shocked but then all eyes were on Papa. But there were two person that were still too shocked of Shreya's request that they were unable to take there eyes off of her and those two were me and Aarsh. I looked towards him and he was staring at her with wide eyes. His expression showed the exact emotions that I wanted to express but were only left in my thoughts.

What the hell Shreya?? What the fuck are you trying to do?? Main iss bandi ko maar dalungi!!!!!!!

But I don't need to worry about anything. Papa will never say yes. I know him, he had never even let me stay a night at Mama's house without Maa, how will he let me live here. He will never agree.

"Well...Why would I deny? She has to come and live here eventually."

What the actual FUCK!!!! Did he just...?? No he didn't.... How could he...!! PAPA HOW COULD YOU!!!! I need to fix this. I can't stay here. Not now. NOOOOOOOOO

"But...."

"But what Bhabhi?? Tomorrow is Sunday, so the college excuse won't work and if you have work to do then I will help you after I send you home tomorrow, you don't have to worry. Please!!!!! Please Please Please Please!!!!!!!" 

I looked towards Maa and Papa for help but they just smiled " Its okay beta just stay if they want."

When I realized that there is no way out I just nodded in agreement.

" Okay Swara we are going now behave properly. And don't worry you'll be back tomorrow. Also you staying here is a good thing because by this you can practice for your future. Okay?? Bye." Maa said and walked towards our car.

"You don't have to worry about anything. These are your in-laws they won't hurt you. Now remove this sad and depressed expression and smile. Okay?? Bye. " Papa said said smiling.

"Bye"

"Let's go Bhabhi we have so much to talk about!!!"
