The next day Lenna started to walk where Chris's car is but instead she started to head right. Chris caught her attention. "Hey Lenna, going back to work?" He asked catching up to her. "Yeah, why does it matter?" Lenna asked fixing her bag on her shoulder. "Do you want a lift?" Chris asked getting to the point. "Well, I really don't need one, but from the sound of you're voice, you're going to give me one anyways." Lenna said looking at him in the face. Chris nodded and they walked to his car and hopped in.
Chris dropped Lenna off at the coffee shop and drove to work. Lenna entered the coffee shop and started all the machines. After 45 minutes, Lenna opened the coffee shop to the customers and waited. Mary was the first to come in and order something. "Hi Lenna, could I get a iced coffee with extra cream, caramel, and a conversation." She said smiling at that last part like she had an evil thought just waiting to come out and ruin Lenna's day with it's destructive nature that she knows all to well.
"Sure." Lenna said with tension and fear as it seeped from her words. Lenna punched in the order and started to make her coffee. Lenna brought it back and Mary paid for it. "So where does Chris live?" Mary asked, eyeing her while stirring her coffee. Lenna stared at her for a minute trying to figure the best course of action. "What makes you think I know where he lives." Lenna said cleaning the counter and looking down from her friends gaze as if she would see right through her, like she had x- ray vision. "I know you drove home with him and I saw you in his car this morning, so I will ask you again Lenna, where does he live?" Mary said intently while getting her point across.
Lenna looked at her and sighed, she was about to answer but stopped as soon as Captain Wesker came in and started walking toward the counter as Mary was talking to her. "Good morning Captain Wesker, what would you like this morning." Lenna asked completely ignoring Mary's question. Mary looked back and moved out of the way so he could reach the counter and give her friend the order, so that he could leave and she could continue to interrogate her friend about Chris till she gave in and spilled everything. Captain Wesker eyed Mary like he didn't want her there and continued forward. Once he reached the counter, he looked back at Mary. She scooted away as if he carried the plague.
Captain Wesker looked back at Lenna and started to give her his order. "I would like a coffee with three shots of espresso." His face was the cold, calculating, poker face she was use to and she was thankful for that. Lenna did not like the side of Captain Wesker she saw yesterday when she was alone with him.
Lenna nodded and turned around to make his coffee. Captain Wesker turned around and saw Mary trying to avoid eye contact with him. She felt intimidated by his presence. Captain Wesker smiled internally at this and turned back around. He watched Lenna make his coffee and like Chris, he started to admire her form and how she moved. Mary looked over and saw him checking her out, or at least that was the conclusion she jumped to.
Lenna came back and placed the coffee down while punching in the order. "It will be $11.58" Lenna said looking at him. He handed her his credit card and she completed the transaction. Lenna handed him his credit card and coffee then thanked him for coming. Captain Wesker nodded and turned around to leave and looked at Mary, who coward down at his gaze. Captain Wesker smiled and left the coffee shop.
Mary walked back over to the counter as Lenna looked down and sighed in relief. "What was that?" Mary asked taking about the situation. "What do you mean Mary?" Lenna asked looking at her with confusion. "I mean his attitude, who is he?" Mary asked using her hands to exaggerate her question, Lenna sighed. "His name is Captain Albert Wesker of the S.T.A.R.S and the boss of the guy you like." Lenna said with a series tone while cleaning the counter and refilling the desert trays up.
"What, no way I don't believe it." Mary said in a state of shock. "It's true, and besides he is always cold and calculating like that." Lenna looked walking back over to where her friend was. "Are you sure, 'cuse that's not what it looked like from my angle." Mary said smirking. "What do you mean?" Lenna asked in concerned tone with a hint of curiosity
Mary's smirk grew bigger at the question but said nothing.
"Come on Mary, spill it." Lenna said putting her hands on her hips. Mary smiled "Okay fine. He was totally checking you out." Mary giggle at this. "Now I don't believe you, he would never check me out, plus I am just a girl working at a coffee shop." Lenna said as someone came in, in the admits of their talking. "What's wrong with dating a girl who works at the coffee shop that all the police in the city go to get their coffee?" The voice asked. Mary and Lenna turned around to see who exactly had been listening to their conversation. It was Chris, he snuck up when he heard something about Captain Wesker checking out Lenna. "Good morning Chris, how are you this morning?" Lenna asked avoiding his question altogether.
"Not too bad, the Captain yelled at me for leaving work early." Chris said walking up to the counter and leaning on it. "We're you not suppose to?" Lenna asked. "Apparently not, by the way, what's this I hear the Captain was checking you out Lenna?" Chris said with a smirk in order to mask the anger he felt boiling up inside him. Mary popped into the conversation at that point. "Yeah, he was totally acted like he wasn't but I could tell he was." Mary said trying to get Chris's attention. Lenna shock her head no as Mary rambled on about how she could tell if someone was checking something else out. Chris made it look like he was paying attention but stared at Lenna when she looked over. "Mary, I am pretty sure Chris came to get coffee and go back to work so that his Captain would stop yelling at him." Lenna said stopping Mary in the middle of her sentence. "Am I right?" Lenna asked looking at Chris.
"Yeah, you're right" Chris said while straightening up. "I am going to need 6 coffees regular." Lenna nodded and made the six coffees and punched in the order and he paid for it. "Try and have a nice day Chris" Lenna said while watching him turn around. "I'll be fine Lenna, and besides my Captain can't take me down that easily." Chris said as he smiled. Lenna felt her heart flutter when he said that. "See you later Lenna." Chris said walking out the door. Lenna and Mary stood there for a moment until they heard his car drive away. "Well sorry I have to ditch you" Mary said turning to Lenna "but I have to take my brother to School." "It's okay, have a safe trip" Lenna said smiling and with that Mary left Lenna.
