It has been a 17 hour flight. I got some sleep, I'd wake up due to bumps and shakes the airplane has been experiencing and a old man sitting next to me on my right would start screaming "we're gonna die!". The flight attendants would try to calm him down, it would work but he would start screaming again for no apparent reason. I ate some Doritos Sweet Chili flavor, some marshmallows, chocolate (combined it with the marshmallows, delicious) and drank some water. Later on I felt a thud beneath the airplane."We're gonna die! Oh no this is our time now, Gloria!" He shouts again but tells the elderly woman wearing chunky jewelry. "Oh for Heavens sake, for the last time Charles, we are not dying especially like this. What kind of pilot would fly an airplane and do a tiny mistake and people end up dying. They had one job! I'm going to die in an airplane. Never!" She debates to herself.
I chuckle to myself at there hilarious relationship. Probably Brendon and I are going to be like that as we grow old together. There is a possible chance that him and I might get married and have kids and die altogether, I'm just saying.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have arrived in Cape Town, South Africa. Please unbuckle your seat belts and calmly gather your belongings and exit through the nearest exit." The male voice over the intercom coolly demanded. I picked the packets of chips and biscuit and other things then stuffed them into my backpack. I see my family exit with the dog carrier carrying Chicago. As soon as I get out, I feel an instant wave of heat blow over me, the sun here is more brighter and warmer, making me feel hot and sweaty. I take off the fur jacket and blouse and left wearing my grey melange Redbat crop top.
My dad and Siya seemed to do the same except for my mom, she was wearing a pair of jean shorts and a tank top with high top flip flops making her look a bit taller.
"Ummm, ma? When did you change into cooler clothes." I ask her out of curiosity and judging what she's wearing.
"Am I the only who knows that it's summer here in SA when's it's winter in America?" She looks at us like we're supposed to know this.
She face palms her forehead and mutters something under her breath. "Idiots." She slips on her sunglasses and walks away in front of us.
We walk into the airport, the AC by the sliding door welcomes us by blasting the cool air into my faces.
"Aaaaaahh!" My brother and I sigh in relief. We see people with signs near entrance written 'Welcome home!', 'Leon Vliken' and etc. But one caught my attention, one sign said 'Siyabonga Ndamase' and a short plump black woman jumping up and down with the sign in her hands. Her eyes avert toward my direction but she was staring at something next to me. I slowly tilt my head to my left to look at Siya just looking at his booger he just picked out of his nostril. He still picks his nose, the worst part he eats the snot when no one is looking, oh but the dumb little boy doesn't know I see his pathetic behavior. The lady jogs over to us but just goes up to Siya. I was going wondering what was going to happen next. If she was going to kidnap Siyabonga, that would just make my day, believe me, a life without a brother would be a luxury.
