Fatima's POV
Muhsin followed me inside the restaurant beaming excitedly to reasons only known to him. we sat at our table with Mubarak no where to be seen. He comes back and shakes Muhsin which makes me guess prolly they know each other
"Soo when did you plan all this for Saleem and his bride?" Muhsin asks
"Me and the guys has planned this since we were in Nigeria after deciding to go to Paris after Greece" I replied
"That's so sweet of y'all let me go say hi to the rest, I'm sure they'll be utterly surprised" he said chuckling.
"Want me to join you?"
"Nope sit and enjoy I'll be right back" he declined my offer.

Mubarak's POV
She turned her attention back to me after he declined her offer of escorting him to say hi to the guys. I'm still thinking of a way to tell her about what iman is planning on doing because she thinks we have something going on between us. I don't even know why she will think that.

"What are you thinking about?" she waves her hands in front of my face and I blink several times before looking at her.
"I'm sorry was just thinking of work I haven't been to office for a long while and the restaurant too I hope I won't meet a pile of work waiting for me to attend to it".
"Don't worry you will survive it."she says flashing a smile at me
"Umm can I talk to you in private please?"I said after battling with myself whether to tell her about Iman's plans
"Okay sure let's go to the balcony upstairs?"
"That'll be perfect" I replied her with a smile

We walked to the balcony and she looks at me asking if I was okay because I looked pale as she says
"Nah I'm fine"
"Soo what did you want to talk about?" she asks
"Do you remember Iman a Friend of mine we met in greece?"
"I think so, the girl that covered your eyes in the restaurant yes?"
"Yes her.  She was my best friend back in my secondary school and university days.
We used to be very very very close, people used to think maybe we were dating but we weren't we were just good friends.
On the day of our convocation after collecting our certificates we were taking pictures and she excused herself to answer a call.
After few minutes I went to the same direction she followed but she wasn't there, I panicked I searched the entire premises she was no where to be found.
I was afraid what if someone had kidnapped her but I would have seen Her phone thrown away but no nothing
I went back to where both our parents were seated and I told them what happened
Her dad called the police and the search for Iman began.
Hours turned to days days turned towards weeks weeks turned to months but nothing came out of the investigations no ransom calls nothing.
Later on her parents gave up and called off the search
I had started to forget about Iman slowly And then she came back into my life with bad news, after we met at the restaurant she called me a few hours before our flight and asked if she could meet me I invited her over and she told me what happened to her and how she survived thru all these years." I finished saying that part with a glint of pain
"Mubarak if you can not finish it's fine I'm here you can talk anytime" she said with a  sad tone
No its fine I can continue she told me how she eloped with an American guy because he promised her he would turn Muslim after she ran away with him and they'll get married and come and ask her parents for forgiveness when the arrived the States he told her to sleep with him before he turned Muslim but she refused And he beat her and forced himself on her.
He did all sorts of stuffs to her and she couldn't Run away because he hid her passport one day he left the house and she found her passport and some money she ran away from him and came back to Nigeria she went to her family and told them everything they turned their backs on her and she left the house, she found this pimp that gave her shelter and introduced her to the world to prostitution. She was in Greece with one of her boyfriends.
But that's not even why I'm telling you all this, I'm telling you this because she feels there's something going on between me and you. She threatened your life she told me she has always loved me but I always mistook it for friendship after she confessed I told her I don't know what to say or do and she thought it's because we are in a relationship that's why I'm denying her love she said she'll make sure you are not in the of our relationship and I'm scared she might do something to you." I said while holding her hands
"What! Why would she even think that?
Just because we were sitting together doesn't mean we are dating or anything
We better report her to the police what if she comes at me?" She said panicking
I tighten my grip on her hands and said
"Do you trust me Fatima?"
She looked at me with an emotion I couldn't phantom
And answered with a positive nod
"Then don't worry everything is going to be alright I promise"
And she hugged me breathing uneasily. I tried my possible best and calmed her down and we made our way downstairs.

The party ended and we made our way to our hotel. Fatima was awfully quiet probably thinking about Iman
I have assured her everything will be alright but I don't know what to do. I will have to talk to Aliyu I'm sure he'll help me with something.

When people hold on to an individual to avoid breaking down
I tend to laugh because here I am clinging on to an emotion deep within me
And that's it!
I manage to survive my stay in the dark
