The smell and sound of something frying slowly pulled Lovino back to his consciousness. His throat was extremely dry and itchy, and he noticed that the place he woke up to was not the usual place that he expected to see every day. Gone were the gray walls of his room and were replaced by yellow ones with small flower patterns. His black window drapes turned into white transparent ones so the room was rather bright. Finally, he noticed that his black queen-sized bed was replaced by a cheap, small, and bloody couch.

Blood.

At the sight of blood, he instantly recalled what had happened the night before. They were ambushed. Millions of shots were fired in the air, raining bullets on them. Two men were shot and killed. He was shot too. And Feli...

Feli!

He shot up the couch, only to sit immediately back down after letting out a strangled cry. His mind swirled for a few moments and his vision hazed a bit. The lack of blood caused him to feel extremely dizzy, especially after how he immediately stood up.

Upon hearing a loud thud coming from the living room, you dropped the chicken leg back to the pan and it landed with a loud "plop". Some cooking oil splashed on your arm but luckily, you were wearing a sweater and only felt a bit of the warmth. You were only wearing it because you knew that you were going to be splashed by some boiling cooking oil while frying.

Putting cooking oils and clothes aside, you ran towards the living room and found a pained and annoyed Lovino who was clutching his injured arm in pain. He looked terrifyingly pale and it scared you almost half to death. Last night, you managed to save him from Death himself even without proper training with little to no experience and it was truly a miracle. But now, it felt like Death was just there waiting outside the front door.

"Water..." he wheezed.

Upon hearing that, you immediately ran to fetch a glass of water and assisted him in drinking it once you came back. After finishing, he let out a sigh of satisfaction. You placed the glass beside his pistol on the glass table behind you. The last thing that was heard was the small "clink" of glass against glass before the room was immediately filled with silence. Neither of you knew what to say next. You took this moment to check on his bandages. There were no bloodstains in any of his bandages, meaning his wounds did not reopen. Last night she also noticed a few more cuts and bruises around his torso and so you treated them as well. However, the bruise on his cheek had turned into an ugly shade of purple. You rose up to fetch an ice pack but then you heard him try to speak.

"Fel-" he tried to say but abruptly stopped, trying to prevent a cough from erupting. Instead, he cleared his throat and inhaled hard until his throat tightened to lessen the itch a bit. "Listen... Feli... my sister's in danger..."

"Feli's alright. We talked yesterday."

As you said, his face was filled with confusion. "What? No Feliciana was with me yesterday! She-" he stopped and coughed hard. At this, you immediately went to fetch some water and assisted him in drinking again.

"Relax... sit still... Feli is fi-"

"AND I'M TELLING YOU SHE'S NOT!" He screamed and grabbed your shoulders. You winced in pain because of how hard he was squeezing your shoulders. His eyes were terrifying to look at, filled with so much anger and fear. "SHE-"

The both of you were interrupted by a loud knock coming from the front door. Lovino let go of your shoulders and reached out behind you to grab his pistol. He sat up properly and aimed at the door.

"Open it," he said quietly.

You were hesitant to do so and was about to protest but then you saw how he was glaring at you. Out of fear, you stood up and placed your hand on the knob. You looked at him for a signal, totally terrified because of the situation that you were in. When he nodded, you opened the door slowly. It revealed a woman hiding inside a jacket with a giant hoody... gun in one hand. She raised her head to look at you and your eyes met familiar bright hazel ones.

You heard a loud breath of relief from behind.

Feli grabbed your arm to pull you back inside the house and immediately closed the door. Without a chance to utter a word, she pulled you towards her and gave you a tight hug.

"Thank you," she whispered. After that, she ran towards Lovino, embraced him, and finally burst into tears.

---

"(Y/N), listen..." Feliciana said as she held your hands. "I'm sorry for keeping this from you for so long... but my family..."

You listened intently.

"My family is involved with mafias. We used to be the bad kind of mafia family but that stopped when my big brother Francis took over as heir." You listened intently, amazed, and a little terrified as she continued explaining. "Our allies when we were still bad have turned against us and are targeting us for turning our back towards them years ago. And they target anyone who knew that we are mafias."

You nodded in understanding when you realized that YOU already knew they were mafias... and that means you could be the next target.

"I'm sorry, (y/n). You are my bestest friend in the whole world. That's why I kept this from you for so long and I wanted you to know me as a regular person... and now, our family put your life in danger. I'm sorry..." Feli let out a sob.

Lovino sat quietly on the couch, sadly looking at his sister. And then, he looked at you with pity.

You were scared. Your life had been peaceful. You had your kindergarten children who love you and you love back. And Feli was just Feli. A giddy and witty Italian girl with an obsession over pasta and you loved her dearly as well. Now you see it all change. You didn't know if it was for the better or for the worse. But what you knew is that you were nothing else but terrified of the unknown things to come.
