Chapter 13

[No one's POV]

When Jeongyeon woke up, he realized that he's already in the hospital.

A nurse came in and checked on Jeongyeon.

"You're awake." The nurse said and Jeongyeon looked around.

"Sorry Miss, How long have I been here?" Jeongyeon soured.

"About 2 days." The nurse replied while checking the monitor.

"Then what about the girl that is in the car with me?" Jeongyeon asked.

"She's in ICU." The nurse replied.

"What? How's her condition?" Jeongyeon asked.

"Her head was injured and sharp and long glass piece stabbed her Fallopian tube." The nurse said.

"What?!" Jeongyeon exclaimed.

"And because of the massive bleeding, we were left no choice but to asked her parents if they allow us to cut and tie her right Fallopian tube. Her parents agreed and we did the operation. But she's still able to give birth, it's just that it might be harder as the sperm must pass by the Fallopian tube to fuse with the egg." The nurse said.

"But why is she in the ICU?" Jeongyeon asked.

"Her head banged onto something hard and causes some internal damage. We afraid it might cause cerebral concussion as she fell into coma so we're got to put her in the ICU for intensive care." The nurse said.

"Thanks, Miss." Jeongyeon said and the nurse clicked her pen.

Just as she was about to leave, Jeongyeon called her.

"Erm, Miss, I want to go to the toilet. Can you help me push the wheelchair over?" Jeongyeon said and the nurse helped him get off the bed as well.

"Thank you." Jeongyeon said and the nurse smiled.

"Your welcome." The nurse said and wanted to push Jeongyeon to the toilet but Jeongyeon said he can manage himself so the nurse left.

After going to the toilet, he decided to go to Momo's ward and look at her.

When he reached there, he saw Momo's parents there crying while looking inside the ward.

"Uncle, auntie, what's wrong?" Jeongyeon asked.

"Momo's heartbeat suddenly stops, the doctor are trying to save her inside. But we are afraid that... Momo..." Mrs. Hirai trailed off and continue crying.

Mr. Hirai hugged her tightly and caressed her arm.

"Let's not think too much. She will be fine." Mr. Hirai said and Mrs. Hirai nodded.

Jeongyeon then faced them and bowed.

"I'm sorry, uncle, auntie. If I look around more carefully, the accident wouldn't have happen and Momo wouldn't have to go through this." Jeongyeon said and a tear fell down from his eyes.

"It's okay my child. We can only blame on the driver. The police said that the driver was drunk when he was driving so he will be charged and be responsible for the hospital bills." Mr. Hirai said.

"I don't care about the bills. I only care about Momo." Jeongyeon said and looked inside the ward.

"I'm sorry Momo. I caused you to this." Jeongyeon said and looked down.

"It's okay. Don't blame yourself." Mrs. Hirai said.

"I'm a jinx." Jeongyeon blamed himself.

"Don't say that, my child." Mrs. Hirai said.

"Just like how I caused my parents death." Jeongyeon said.

Mr. and Mrs. Hirai hugged Jeongyeon while he cried out.

Soon, the doctor came out and went to them.

"She's lucky and have been saved back. If she were realized seconds later, things might be different." The doctor said which Jeongyeon and Momo's parents to be relieved.

"Can we go see her now?" Jeongyeon asked and the doctor nodded.

"But not for long. She needs a lot of rest." The doctor said and they nodded.

They then went in and looked at Momo.

The doctor then heard Momo's parents asking Jeongyeon about his injuries and he told them that his right leg feels weak and numb.

Jeongyeon thought that it was just because of the deep cut on his thigh just above his kneecap so he didn't bother much.

The doctor then went to find his friend who is Jeongyeon's doctor in charge to tell about this.

A few days later

Jeongyeon's doctor came and check on Jeongyeon as Jeongyeon told his doctor that his leg feels weak and numb.

He recommended Jeongyeon to X Ray scan and MRI scan to check on his joints.

Jeongyeon was arranged a few days later and he went to do it.

When his results is out, Jeongyeon's doctor went to find him and told him his condition.

"From the X ray, I realize that peroneal nerve was cut. You would have to go through surgery to repair the nerve or else it might cause permanent paralysis." The doctor said and Jeongyeon widened his eyes.

"Huh? Is that why my right leg always feels nothing?" Jeongyeon asked and the doctor nodded.

"Due to the accident, your peroneal nerve was cut. This cause your leg to feel numbness and weakness. This are the symptoms of damaged nerve." The doctor said.

"But you're lucky. It only cause damaged to one area which is called mononeuropathy." The doctor added.

"But how long will it take for my leg to recover?" Jeongyeon asked.

"Nerves will regenerate at the rate of 1 inch per month. While sensation can be regained even after long periods of denervation, muscle reinnervation will not occur after long periods of time without nerve innervation. Because your nerve is cut, by doing surgery will help in mobility and recovery time. Moreover, you're young so it might be faster for your damaged nerve to repair. But also, there's risks. After you done the operation, if your leg still doesn't heal, you need to get a check up immediately. Another risk is, anything goes wrong during the operation, it might cause your leg permanent paralysis." The doctor said.

Jeongyeon then kept silence for a while and thought for a while.

After that, he looked at the doctor and nodded.

"I'll take the surgery." Jeongyeon said and the doctor nodded.

"I will help you arrange a surgery soon then." The doctor said and left.

Jeongyeon then thought of something.

After that, he keep his stuff properly and laid back to rest.
