Life is full of terrifying surprises
My footsteps are light as I bounce back to my room. A feeling of calm had settled into my body after my encounter with Sans. It was just a hug but I felt a little less lonely now.
As I enter my room with a wide smile on my face, I think about what I want to do. When I turn to shut the door behind me my charger cord slips from around my neck. I quickly swoop it back up and plug my phone in.
Then I unzip my bag which was laying on the bed and pull out my mask. The newspaper wrapped around it crinkles loudly making me cringe as I quickly set it on the table beside my bed. I gaze curiously down at the plastic blue mask.
I had so many memories with this piece of plastic. Over the years I had begun to adore it, despite it being nothing more then a way to hide my identity from the world. It had become a part of me. The realest part of me there was, honestly. All of my fear, my anxieties, my boundaries.. they just melted away when I wore it.
A dark and heavy cloud settles around me, wiping the remnants of my smile away. I could remember so many fun, happy times, but I was also beginning to remember some of the not so good times.
It seems this man who was chasing me had some higher level of influence on my life. He knew my real identity, though how he had found out was still a mystery to me.
No matter how much I tried to ignore it, the fact of the matter was that I would be in danger no matter where I was or what I was doing. He had total control over me and my actions. There were only two ways to escape, and neither were ideal.
The first being taking my situation to the police. Now this might seem like a great idea, except that I had very little proof involving my real identity. Most of my memories involving him had to do with my alternate ego. And the last thing Crystal, or well.. I, needed was the whole world watching me.
The second unrealistic option was to make a deal with Emmy, my spirit animal, but at a heavy cost. It would allow me to get rid of my stalker, as well as several other tiny benefits, but it cost one shiny human soul. Mine.
I wouldn't have an afterlife, I wouldn't get to be reunited with my family, and seeing as soul bonding was a very important tradition these days I wouldn't find a partner willing to risk their own soul.
The sound of my phone going off pulls me back to reality. I quickly shake my head, as if that would clear my thoughts, and snatch it from the bedside table. The second I pick it up it starts going off left and right as my notifications from the last several days come flooding in.
When it finally stops there are several texts from a contact labeled 'Best fren' at the top. I tap on the top one and put in my code, then look through the borderline obsessive amount of texts they had sent me. Most sounding worried, but a few clearly display how downright furious they were.
The final text being, 'hey what the fuck? I went to your house and you weren't there, where are you? I'm really worried now, if you don't answer soon I will use magic to track you down.' And that was late last night.
So I quickly type up a, 'who is this?' But before I can hit send I hear something land on my balcony. When I look up I notice a large man struggling to get to his feet. My breath catches in my throat and I can't seem to muster up so much as a whisper, let alone a shout to get Sans' attention. I back up quickly and bump into my bedside table which hits the wall harshly, then I flinch as my mask falls and hits the carpet with a low thud.
