FAITH'S POVits 12 in the afternoon and im laying in bed scrolling through a hundred more tik toks. am i ever going to get this assignment done? probably not! i cant stop getting all those stupid songs out of my head. if only this trig homework was as simple as all those stupid tik tok dances. i finally decided to shut my phone off and continue struggling through this math course. the more i dove deep into the homework, the more i kept thinking about throwing my laptop out the window. i heard a couple knocks on my door and then the door slightly opened.
"honey, how is the homework going?" my mom giggled. she always makes jokes about my facial expressions when i do my homework and how they remind her of a horse struggling to give birth. so loving of her right?
"well, im stuck between finishing these last few hell made problems or throwing my laptop out the window. wanna help me decide?" i looked up at her shaking my head and raising my eyebrows.
"well option two came out of MY bank account so we definitely are not doing that" she scolds. if only i had all the money those tik tok kids do then maybe i wouldnt have to constantly hear her nagging about how she pays for all my school expenses.
"but listen the new neighbors just settled in and id really like you to come along with me once you somehow finish that homework. they have a son your age whose going to passaic valley as well!" she cheers.
"a boy? you know i hate anything to do with the male species mom" i closed my laptop deciding to finish the last few equations later tonight.
"and do i care? nope! you are coming. its only appropriate to do so! what am i gonna say when they ask why you never came?" she scurries away before i can answer and complain about how she told these random people about me already.
"great!" i sigh thinking about the fact i have to go deal with two oldies and a most likely immature male for a good hour or two.

"do i have my house keys?" my mom pats her jean pockets and ruffles through her jacket pockets.
"they're with me." i wave them so she stops getting paranoid as if i dont keep my window open to sneak out at night to meet with my best friend roshaun.
"and the pie? please dont tell me i left the pie!" she stares at the floor to recollect her thoughts and memory of where she might have kept it.
"you kept it in the fridge to cool remember?" i sigh. i really want nothing more than to get this stupid thing over with and of course my extra ass mom has to make this journey as dreadful and long as possible.
"oh yes! thanks for your young sometimes useful brain, love!" she kisses my forehead and then opens the door to the house and snatches the pie out the fridge almost dropping it from how aggressive she slammed the door shut.

we begin to walk our way to the neighbors house and for some reason i cant help but to be anxious and kind of curious. i wonder what the boy looks like? acts like? where hes from? but then i recollect myself and remember im faith. i actually couldn't give a fuck about who this kid was.
my feet crush the fall leaves under my shoes and i walk on the three door steps to stand right on their "welcome!" place mat. kind of cheesy dont you think? i cant stand normies.
my mom rings the door bell twice and we stand and wait in the cold for them to finally open the door.
