Jev's POV:
School FINALLY got out after hours of staring at the clock every minute. He immediately got into his Jeep and Levi had to jog to keep up.
"Dude slow down UGH!" He jumps into the passenger seat and Jev already has the car running. "She's not going anywhere she's a-"
"I know what she is Levi I just want to see if I can find anything," Levi just looks at him like he's crazy.
"Liiike... my phone right?"
Jev hums a reply, "mmhm... actually no that's a lie. I forgot about your phone to be completely honest." Jev was looking ahead as he pulls out of the parking lot and into the street. He fights the urge to just gun it all the way to the mansion. What would getting a ticket do for anyone, right? Levi smacks his arm. "OW I'm DRIVING!!" Levi just smacks his arm again.
"You."
Smack
"Forgot."
Smack
"About."
Smack
"The WHOLE REASON."
Smack
"We're going there"
Smack
"In. The. FIRST PLACE?!"
He punches him in the arm.
"OW you can't do that there aren't any Slug-Bugs around jeez... and yes I did." Levi sits back in his seat with a defeated sigh.
"I hate you."
"Love ya too." he takes a turnoff and after a few minutes they're on a dirt road. He tried not to get annoyed that he has to slow down a little more so rocks don't hit his windshield. But he keeps going.
After a few minutes he pulls in front of the big, run down mansion and kills the engine. "Let's go." He hops out of the car and into the hot, humid air.
Jev starts walking towards the mansion but stops when he doesn't hear another pair of footsteps following his. He turns around to see Levi still in the car.
"Dude what are you doing? Cmon!" Levi sticks his head out of the window.
"No!"
"It's YOUR phone dipshit!" Levi just shakes his head.
"You're the brave one!"
"DUDE," he motions to the sky. "It's the middle of the day! She won't be out right now!" Levi just shakes his head and crosses his arms over his chest. Jev rolls his eyes. Wuss.
He turns and walks through the big doors. Phone. Find his phone. The entrance hall was big and grand once but now, all the pillars and carpets are ripped and broken. The grand stairs where carpet ends and marble begins is chipped and worn away by dust and age. Jev wants to explore it all but Levi's out there waiting for him.
He left the door open so Levi knows he's not dying or some crap. He starts walking down the halls, looking through the different rooms while trying to find the ballroom.
~~~
He's been looking for about 15 minutes but he can't find the ballroom. He still had fun though. He just doesn't understand why Levi is so scared of this place. Like, sure it's run down, old, and falling apart but that's what makes it fun!
There are huge windows in the hallways that show the beautiful forest outside. He's surprised that none of the windows are broken or even cracked but they were dirty and the dust gives them a thin, murky layer. The air is musty.
He keeps walking when he hears a loud slam coming from the front of the house. He doesn't jump but heads towards the noise to find the front door closed when it used to be open.
Maybe it's her.
That thought would have made any person leave immediately but it just made Jev giddy and exited.
Maybe I'll see her.
He looks around but nothing changes. No extra sounds, no movement, nada... nothing.
Surrounding all the grand windows are thick giant curtains. Maybe...
Jev starts walking to the curtains and takes the piece of thread that somehow hasn't disintegrated over the years off, making them disconnect from the wall and cover the window. There's a cloud of dust and he coughs as the room gets slightly darker and he turns around, scanning the room.
Nothing.
Maybe it has to be darker.
He goes to another window and does the same thing, holding his breath when it falls as he scans the room.
Ugh
He keeps repeating that with all the windows till the only one still showing through is a small one above the door. The light shining down like a beam from the dust and it hits one spot on the floor giving the room very little light.
Jev sits down, watching the room to see if he'll see anything but nothing seems to change or move. He's about to give up and go look for Levi's phone again when he hears footsteps and he freezes.
There, standing in the entryway is the girl. She's absolutely beautiful.
Her hair is a lovely dark brown and it's neatly curled, going half way down her back and moving like water when she looks around, a confused look on her face. She walks further into the room, and when she walks in that small beam of sunlight she disappears then reappears again after as if nothing happened.
Wow.
She turns and looks straight at Jev but she doesn't seem to look at him more than through him. He doesn't move. He doesn't breathe. He doesn't know WHAT to do.
