Putting her mask on and chugging down her coffee-Red Bull mixture, she could feel her heartbeat go crazy. Missions like these were always hard, after all. Being a villain for extra credit was just an unnecessary reason to be anxious, but that's how Christine lived her life, and degrees aren't handed out just like that.
Stepping out of the dark alleyway from the sewer cover, which was actually where her lair, if you could call it that, was located at, Christine straightened her tight black bodysuit. Looking at the big round buttons on her gloves, which were right at the palms of her hands, she pressed them. A tingling sensation went over her body, as she put her hands on the wall. Making sure her palms stuck there, she slowly started climbing up.
The higher she got on the building, the colder the morning breeze felt against her skin from under the mask. It was way too early for this shit, as she would put it. Yet, sucking in a breath, she continued climbing; higher and higher until she reached the top and the sunrise was visible. It always felt nice to see the dancing colours of dawn first thing in the morning, regardless if she had slept the night before or not.
She pressed the buttons on her palms, which were now bright blue, and turned them off, making them change back to that dull, blue colour they had before. Folding her leg and pressing a button to the side of her All-Star shoes, and repeating the same movement with the other one, she stepped back. Inhaling deeply, she started running and then jumped to the other building.
Nice Converse, Chris, she complimented herself inside her mind, as a small smirk crept on her lips. She didn't enjoy nor take pride in being a villain; yet, she had to be good at it, so why not have fun while she's at it?
Jumping from building to building, the wind really brushed on her little exposed skin, but also on her hooded face. Her black hair tied up in a ponytail swayed in the air from that small hole in her mask. It gave the same sensation as being on a motorcycle, yet it was far more tiring. Thanks to the coffee-Red Bull abomination she had drunk, though, adrenaline was pumping through her veins and being tired wasn't even a possibility.
All throughout that rush, she brought her right hand, her dominant one, in front of her face. Pressing a button on that precious glove of hers, a small digital map was shown in the form of a hologram. The light blue map was too bright for her, reminding her of the feeling of having the brightness high on your phone when opening it in the middle of the night. As her eyes adjusted to it, she saw a red dot moving, which was her and then, a little further, she saw a green one.
Great, she thought. Two more buildings, then I'll go to the skyscraper on the left. Thank God it isn't too far.
Doing exactly that, she leapt from building to building, till she was ready to do that big jump. Pressing the blue buttons on her gloves once more, she took some steps back and then jumped, landing on the window pain softly and sticking to it, just like Spider-Man. She climbed high in the building, not caring enough whether underpaid employes would be able to see her from the double-sided glass.
After all, being seen was her plan.
Reaching the roof, she looked at the sun, which had risen a bit more than before, yet the purple-blue colour of the sky still lingered on it softly, hiding itself between the faint clouds. She would have loved to stay there a little more, but she couldn't; not only because the sound of the ventilation made her extremely irritated, but also because she had a mission to complete.
Her plan was simple: Make a distraction, get in whilst no one is looking, put everything in the small flash drive her employer, if she could call him that, had given her and get out again. Simple, yet complicated.
She moved towards the ventilation. Shutting it down would cause a commotion, a big one that is, yet did she really want to make such a big mess? She may have been a part-time villain for some time now, yet she didn't really want to do something big. Besides, it would be too much effort.
