A few days went by and Elisa anxiously awaited a text from Jaxon. It was already Tuesday and she cannot stop thinking about Jaxon. She remembered the first time she met him and how funny and romantic he could be. She also thought about how he could be sensitive and open based on their second conversation. It had been a while since Elisa had considered seeing a guy. With all of the work, labs, and exams for nursing, she barely had time for anything else. The last time she had a boyfriend was in high school and only lasted for about 6 months. Realizing how pathetic that sounded, Elisa really hoped this thing with Jaxon would work out. She rolled her eyes, thinking, the only way that would happen is if he'd text her. Elisa continued her day, grabbing her bag and heading to class. After arriving to class, Elisa put her phone on the desk and took out her materials. The professor came into the room and closed the door behind him.

"Okay class, please turn to page 55 of your anatomy books."

Elisa skipped to the pages instructed as her professor began his lecture. Elisa was frantically writing, trying to get down every last important detail. She looked at the clock on the wall that was above the door. Only ten more minutes, she thought to herself. As the professor started to finish the current topic, Elisa's phone buzzed. Excited and expecting for it to be Jaxon, Elisa flipped her phone over to show the nonfiction.

Disappointed and ready to leave, Elisa began to pack up her things. She threw her book bag over her shoulders and stood up from her chair, making her way out of the room. When she reached the hallway she heard a girl call her name.

"Elisa, wait!"

Elisa turned around, curious of what this person could want. The girl then stuck out her hand and in it was Elisa's phone. She thanked the girl at least twice before asking her name.

"I'm Kat, I'm in your chemistry class too." Kat seemed disappointed that Elisa didn't recognize her.

"Oh, right! Sorry... I'm really bad with names but I do recognize you. It's nice to meet you Kat." Elisa smiled and thanked Kat again before walking to her next class.

By the time Elisa got to her next destination, she was beginning to lose hope that Jaxon would text her. Finding her seat and going through the same motions as the last class, Elisa put her phone down and took out her things. After settling into her seat, Elisa began to fidget with her pen, spinning it in between her fingers. This class was her easiest and the professor was super lenient and very old. For this reason, many people just sat on their laptops or played on their phone. Elisa then pulled out her laptop and placed it on her desk. She was planning on using it to block herself while using her phone. She really didn't want to seem rude and just openly ignore the teacher with her knowing. She finally picked up her phone and read the notifications.

Message from Jaxon

Elisa's eyes lit up as she reread the notification again. How could I miss this? She quickly checked the time she received the message and saw it was from 25 minutes ago. Elisa questioned again how she didn't realize her phone was going off on her desk or in her pocket. Then she looked at the time again and realized he must have texted her when she left her phone in the classroom. Elisa opened her phone and began to read Jaxon's messages.

Jaxon: Hey its Jaxon I just wanted to know if you have anything Friday night

Jaxon: If you do thats fine

Jaxon: Just wanted to know if we could hang out

Elisa laughed at how nervous he seemed. She took her time thinking about her plans then took a look at her calendar. After confirming she had nothing to do, Elisa responded. Not wanting to seem as anxious as Jaxon, she thought long and hard as she formed her answer. After rewording and rephrasing her text multiple times, she finally sent the message.

Elisa: I dont have anything and would love to hang out. What do you want to do?

Almost immediately after sending the text Jaxon began typing. She smiled at how fast he'd read the message.

Jaxon: Its a surprise... as long as you trust me?

Elisa began to panic as she was unsure of what to say back. She was aware of the risks of going somewhere with a guy alone especially at night. It had also been a while since she's had to trust someone other than her family and best friend Lizzy.

Elisa: Lets give it a try

Elisa stared at the words for a little, contemplating if it was worth the risk. She wanted to trust him but knew how many things had been going on at other campuses. She also wondered if it was the right time to get involved with someone during such a busy point in her life. Finally, Elisa closed her eyes and hit send.

Jaxon: Perfect Ill see you at 9

Nine? What could he possibly be planning at nine? Elisa thought. I really hope it's not a party... I have to study this weekend for my practical on Monday. She let the questions go and just tried to prepare herself for what was yet to come. Excited and happier than she had been in a while, Elisa went on with her day; enjoying every moment.

Not even a day had passed before Jaxon couldn't hold himself from texting Elisa again. After getting back to his dorm and seeing his roommate was not there, Jaxon had no one to talk to about his big news. He started to feel lonely. He wanted the date to be a surprise and figured the best way to do this was by leaving time for Elisa to think about it. He thought that by not texting her the rest of the week until right before their date would create this type of mystery. However, now that he knew this "hang out" was officially happening, it was so temping for him to text her.

Jaxon: Are you nervous?

Elisa: About what?

Jaxon: Friday

Elisa: No, im excited to see what you planned

Jaxon didn't start planning what they were going to do yet, but he knew it had to be amazing. He really wanted to win Elisa over... since his first attempt didn't work out as expected.

Jaxon: Do you like roses?

Elisa: Of course I love all kinds of flowers. Theyre beautiful

Jaxon began to think about the many possible places he could take Elisa. He started to think about what'd she like and what would be the most romantic. However, he still wanted this date to be a surprise and not give it away by asking too many obvious questions. They continued to talk the rest of the night; Jaxon managed to asked every question he needed in a subtle way before coming up with his big plan.

Jaxon: Its getting late so Ill let you get ready for bed

Elisa: Ya im getting really tired

Jaxon: Talk tomorrow?

Elisa: Perfect

Jaxon: Goodnight Elisa

Elisa: Night Jaxon

That night both Elisa and Jaxon fell asleep thinking about the other. They thought about Friday and all of the possible outcomes that could arise. However, they both knew whatever happened Friday would be better than their first awkward encounter. After a long and stressful beginning, everything seemed to be settling into place and that night they both fell asleep with smiles on their faces.
