The grass was wet, and the night air was cool. I leaned into Rhysand, feeling his warmth.
"Are you cold, Feyre darling?" He smirked down at me, and pulled me closer. I sighed, inhaling his jasmine aroma. He wrapped his arms around me, resting them on my swollen belly. Swollen, from the child growing in me.
I ignited a ball of flame in my hand, and let it's warmth seep into me. Rhys leaned down, and pressed a kiss to my neck. I gazed up, at the thousands of stars surrounding us. It was a comfort to know that they were here with us.
The hair on the back of my neck suddenly stood up. Rhys smelt the change in my scent.
"What's wrong?" he breathed."Something - something is coming. From... From somewhere different..." Warning swirled in the air, and I looked around, trying to see what was happening.
Above us, a huge rift opened. I could see flame, burning bright in the air. Rhys shoved me behind him, and I felt him summoning his power. Out of the rift, a figure tumbled.
A woman. Her shoulder length blonde hair gleamed, and her turquoise eyes blazed. Her beautiful face showed fear. Fire leaped around her, but it didn't burn her. She opened her mouth, and flung out a hand.
"Help her." I said to Rhys. "Help her."He reached out, and cast a net of night kissed air to her. It slowed her fall, and she smiled gratefully at us, before disappearing into another portal. The only thing left from her was the smell of pine trees and snow.
"What was that?" I looked at Rhys, but he seemed as perplexed as I did.
"Let's go back to the river house. Find Amren."
I nodded, and he whisked us away.________________________________
"Well?" I asked after explaining. "Do you know anything about this type of thing?"
Amren frowned. "It can't be..." she muttered, "It's not possible..." She looked unnerved, her silver eyes wide.
"Amren, is there anything you can tell us?" Rhys cut in. His voice was steady, but the strain in his eyes said otherwise.I hated how the war with Hybern had placed so much pressure on us. Mor was busy securing relations with other courts. Cassian and Nesta were in the Illyrian Steppes, trying to work out whatever was between them. Azriel was on the continent, trying to find the keeper of Vassa. And Amren...
"I think that whatever this was... it wasn't from our world. I think this woman you speak of... I think she is from a different world." I gaped at her. Rhys frowned.
"So she comes blasting into our world, and disappears somewhere else? That doesn't make sense.""It does though. She lost her way from her world, and was trying to find it. She was going too fast, and you slowed her down. She is most likely back already." I sank into a plush chair. Rhys looked like he was going to rip a hole in the world just to see if it were true.
"Thank you Amren. We'll see you tomorrow night at the dinner?" Amren nodded. Rhys walked to me, took my hand and winnowed to the river house.
"We'll tell the others when they come. Then we'll decide what to do." He ran a hand through his blue-black hair.
"What's wrong?" I asked, scanning his face.Rhys started walking back and forth across our room. "We just stopped Hybern again. Then this happens. It's terrifying knowing we are not alone. What if there are other people like Hybern? Like Amarantha? What then? What if they come here and-"
"Rhys." He stopped, and sighed. "Rhys, we won. We did it. Is something wrong? Did something happen?"
"I just... After so long with Amarantha, and the war... I guess I'm just not used to peace. Happiness."
My heart broke for my strong, brave, brilliant mate, who had seen such horrors in his life.
"You will be though. Soon..." My hand drifted to my womb, and Rhys smiles. It lit up the room, and I grinned back at him."Soon, Feyre. Soon."

When I awoke, Rhys was gone. Groaning, I got up and turned the bath on. The hot water was blissful. It soothed my aches and pains, and I sighed. I cleaned myself, and got dressed in leggings, and a soft sweater. Ceridwen must have been through while I was bathing, for the curtains were open, sunlight streaming in through the open windows.
I made my way to the kitchen, and found Elain and Nuala making some sort of bread. Grabbing a pastry, I said good morning.
"What are you making?" I asked, peering at the lump of dough.
"A loaf for dinner tomorrow. I want to ask Nesta what she thinks of it." My sisters eyes fill with worry at the thought of our sister. We haven't seen her in months. Busy at the Steppes according to Cassian.
"I'm sure it will be amazing." I say, "Like all your other recipes." I add with a wink. I give Nuala a grateful smile for helping Elain, then go back to our room.
Where are you? I send down the bond. The library. Rhys responds immediately.
Why exactly are you at the library?
Looking for information on the woman. Want to join? I'm lonely.
Illyrian baby. I quipped. I winnow to the House of Wind, and make my way downstairs to the library.
Books line the walls, and the staircase winds all the way down into darkness. Where Bryaxis lived until recently.
Where are you? I ask again.
Three levels down. I walk down the stairs and find Rhys surrounded with books. I grab one and flip through it.
"Are you going to read all of these?" I question.Rhys smiles up at me, and my chest warms.
"I suppose I could save some for you, mate."Mate. I love hearing that word on his sensual lips. It reminds me of all I've gained in the past three years.
After hours of reading books and talking, Rhys declared we should get ready for dinner. After climbing back up to the House of Wind, we winnowed away. Rhys strode to the bathing room, and I heard the bath start running. I headed to the wardrobe, and changed into a blue dress that flowed to the floor, drawing attention away from my stomach. Sparkling silver thread created beautiful patterns. I applied light makeup, colouring my lips and cheeks pink, lengthening my eyelashes.
When Rhys emerged he was wearing a black suit, wings poking over his shoulders. He paused by the door, drinking me in.
"If only you weren't in such a delicate state, Feyre." Rhys mused, "Then we could enjoy ourselves before Nesta and Cassian arrive."
I rolled my eyes at him, even as my blood heated.Rhys stepped forward and grasped my arm.
"Let's go then." He murmured in my ear.
I feel night and wind around me as we winnow away.
