Reminiscent

It's cold, the raindrops hitting your skin as you walk through the long-abandoned town. As you walk, shivering and tears running down your cheeks thinking of what once was; you hear a sound in the far distance. Your eyes widen as you pick up your walking pace ever so slightly. Eventually, you come across a nineteen ninety's themed restaurant, playing a song you've heard since childhood. (Play Music) Now that you're older, the song brings back more buried emotions. Your heart breaks a tad as you peek in through a window, all the lights are on inside. An automaton stands still and rotting slightly, probably deactivated. The radio is alight, as though nothing has changed. Aside from the rusted figure behind the counter, the place seems forever frozen in time. A small smile pulls on your face as you imagine the place being filled with happy people, smiling, and eating their food. Some drink and spend time with their friends, others on a date, and a few just celebrating their anniversary. The cheering and light slowly fades, leaving the diner empty once more. A small sigh escapes your lips as you pull away from the window. You push on the door and surprisingly it opens, the music grows louder and more clear. A smile settles on your face as you walk inside the diner to escape the rain. Although you're one of the only people who survived the bombing, being in here doesn't make you feel lonely.

The song does not belong to me, it was simply what gave me the idea to write this short piece!
