In a room full of large floating tubes where each is filled with some kind of liquid and something that looked like a human, a low sound echoed.
Bang!
"Notification, the HS-N-80 code embryo has successfully reached maturity."
"Notification, the HS-N-80 code embryo has successfully reached maturity."
"Notification, the embryo ..."
Nonstop, a robotic voice echoed in the room.
After a few minutes, a change finally took place. The only door of the room opened and a woman, with glasses and a white coat, came in. After looking around for a few seconds she went in the direction of one of the tubes that, unlike the others, blinked red without stopping. After stopping in front of the tube the woman said:
"Confirming the maturity of the HS-N-80 embryo. Disconnect the incubator from the nutrition network."
Tzzzz
The incubator suddenly had a change. The liquid that once filled him began to diminish, which gradually showed the floating figure of a man who looked to be in his twenties with white hair and who had several types of cables injected through his body.
"Begin the infusion of basic knowledge."
Shortly after the woman said, the man began to squirm as if in great pain.
"Hu huu Hoooo ..." The man began to moan in pain
After eight minutes of suffering, the man finally stopped squirming.
"Notification, the knowledge infusion ended successfully." The robotic voice again echoed.
"Disconnect the neural cables. Disconnect the embryo connection with the incubator." The woman said
Slowly all the cables injected into the man's body began to come out and finally showing black needles at the ends. Just after the last cable came out the man suddenly fell seated at the base of the incubator.
"Notification, the embryo was successfully disconnected from the incubator"
Slowly opening his eyes and with a blurred vision, the man began to touch his own face and other parts of his body until, finally, he could see what was in front of him, and in it, beyond the glass, appeared the figure of a woman with an indifferent look and who was reading the data from a passbook.
For an unknown time silence dominated, until finally, the woman said:
"Do you have a problem with any of your senses?"
"No." The man answered
"In the next seven days, you will go through a post-incubation adaptation period. Any questions?"
"Yes. What is my name?" The man asked
"N-80." The woman spoke briefly
After a short silence, the woman then said:
"Begin transport of N-80 to post-incubation adaptation area."
Shortly after the woman said that the incubator where N-80 was situated began to quietly land on a four-wheeled floor stand and then the woman started pulling the incubator out of the room.
.
.
.
Everyone calls me N-80.
Although this is just a code to identify the creation sequence of us, homunculus scientists.
But even if we are called scientists, we are actually just living experiments in an attempt to create a smarter human race. Each embryo created in this project carries a different genetic modification. In my case, it's a more efficient and resistant blood circulation system that aims to try to increase brain activity.
