Phoenix's POV
The day had been hectic. I knew it would only have been a matter of time before everyone worked out who we were. The first shout was only 5 minutes into the train ride. "Did you hear? The Potter's are on board!" was the first thing she heard. It wasn't long before myself and Harry were being pestered by every student on the train, and I couldn't wait for the journey to be over.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I stood beside my brother in the entrance hall, looking around nervously as some blond haired twat came and started going on about how he was better than everyone else in our year. I stared down at the floor, feeling the eyes of almost every other first year focused on us. Just because we had survived. Finally a voice called and we all fell silent and I looked up to see a professor standing there. Professor McGonagall I remembered from earlier. "Welcome to Hogwarts." she said to us all, though she didn;t look very welcoming, not even a smile on her face. "The start of term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses." She continued in the same boring tone for a few minutes before leading us into the great hall. I stayed close to my brother as I heard all the whispers from the older students as we passed by and came to a stop infront of the head table. Professor McGonagall seemed to have disappeared again but came back a minute later, leading a girl who must've been left behind.
We all watched with bated breath as the Professor brought in a small three legged stool with a hat on top of it. I wonder what the hat is for. It doesn;t take long for me to find out as McGonagall pulled out a list and called the first stident forward, a girl named Hannah Abbott. I'm glad to say that I'm not the only one who jumped when the hat suddenly shouted "Hufflepuff!" and the girl stumbled over to the table that had errupted with applause. We waited patiently as several more people were sorted, the girl named Aurora Faith put into Gryffindor. More names passed and I smirked at the Malfoy twat swaggering up to the front, the hat barely touching his head before shouting Slytherin. A thought suddenly hit me. "Harry" I whispered. "What if we're in different houses?" I asked him worriedly. "Don't worry Phoe, we'll be alright" he reassured me. "Good luck!" I whispered as his name was called, the hall falling silent once again. Everyone started to get impatient, wondering why it was taking so long just as the hat came to a decision. "Gryffindor!" it called and I clapped for him, drowned out by the tremendous cheers coming from the Gryffindor table as he sat down across from a ghost. Suddenly, it was my turn. "Potter, Phoenix!" McGonagall called and the hall was instantly silent again. Great. If there was one thing I hated it was being the centre of attention. I shakily walked towards the stool, glancing over at Harry who gave me a thumbs up sign.
I sat down and McGonagall dropped the hat onto my head and it slipped down over my eyes. Great, I must look like an idio-'Don't think like that' a voice whispered in my ear, causing me to jump a little. 'Hmmm, brilliant mind, strong heart. Thoguh you've seen many troubles in your life...' it continued, ramibling on like this for a couple of minutes. 'Alright....Gryffindor!' it called out, the second word booming out through the hall. My legs shook as I stood up and walked over to the Gryffindor table, sitting next to Harry and smiling a little at the shouts of 'We got them both!'
Looking around I saw some friendly faces all smiling at me, waving excitedly. I could also see the girl who Professor McGonagall had to go back for. WOW, she does not look happy. I would not like to be whoever she's thinking about. She seemed to sense that I was looking at her and her head snapped round. Her hazel eyes locked with my green eyes and I could see anger, annoyance and mostly confusion swirling around in there. Suddenly she stood up and stormed out of the hall with an older student chasing after her. Glancing over at Harry, I watched him having an animated conversation with a boy that we had met on the train, a nice boy with red hair and freckles. I tried to stay interested in the conversation but all I could think about was that girl. who was she? why did she leave? who left with her? and why was she so angry?
