Nobody else would wait around, nobody else would care that much about a stranger they just met so why did he? I have so many questions racing around in my mind and all of them are centred around him, around the mysterious stranger that is Noah Foster. I suddenly realise that its been a while since I've said anything so I decide to ask him where is he is from, the more information I can find out about him the better it might help me put the pieces of the puzzle that is Noah together

"I actually just moved here, I'm staying with my uncle Greg, he lives in the old house down by the mill."

"Oh I think I Know that place, its so secluded I didn't even know anyone lived there."

Every town has a creepy old house that everyone likes to make up scary stories about to add a bit of mystery to the place and the house down  by the mill is no exception. I remember staying with my grandfather as a child and he would tell me these ghost stories about creatures that roam in the night that live there, he used to tease me if I was being bold and tell me that they would come and get me. Just thinking about my grandfather and how he used to be makes me forlorn, due to his alzheimer's he just about recognises me on a good day now.

"Are you okay", Noah asks.

"I' fine, my grandfather used to tell me scary stories about that house as a child and the mention of it reminds me of him" I say.

I go on to tell Noah about the scary stories and the creatures that haunted my childhood nightmares upon his request. "He had quite the imagination", I say.

Just as I was about to ask about his family and where they are the nurse entered the room and announced visiting hours were over ages ago. I guess I'll have to ask him next time I see him,  if there ever is a next time that is.

"I'll see you around Maya Summers"

"I'll see you around." , I replied, or rather hoped.

After he left I just lay there, my mind racing, thinking about a mysterious boy called Noah Foster,  everything about him is a mystery to me.

The next morning I wake up  to the sound of my mom calling my name, for the first time in forever I haven't been woken in the middle of the night by a terrible nightmare. After he checks up on me Doctor Forbes informs me that I can go home is I quickly get changed and leave this horrid place, mum stays behind I think doctor Forbes wanted to speak with her. As soon as I walk out the hospital doors I feel the cool raspy air in my chest  so I hurry to the car and turn the heat on. I let my numb fingers defrost before looking for my phone only to see a text message from Sam.

"I'm so sorry Maia, I should never have left you alone like that. I was so stupid, I should have walked you to your mom."

"Sam you didn't know that was going to happen, don't blame yourself its my fault not yours. I'm feeling fine it was nothing major"

"Thank God, I really am so so sorry. How about we meet for hot chocolate later in Hals?"

"OK I'll meet you there at noon:)"

OK see you  then:)"

Mom was gone for quite a while, I sat there in silence looking through old photos on my phone before mom finally emerged from the hospital doors.

"Hey honey, sorry I was so long I just needed to check something with Dr Forbes."

I know something is up, she was in there for a really long time but I don't need to know right now I've had enough medical talk for one day so I simply let it go.

"Hey mom, I've been talking to Sam and we've arranged to meet at Hals for hot chocolate at noon."

Maia, you heard what the doctor said, please don't push yourself"

"Mom I'm fine. It will take me ten minutes to drive to Hals and I wanted to go to the library anyway."

"Okay, okay. I didn't tell Layla what happened yesterday, she's too young to understand so don't mention it to her "

I'm glad she didn't tell Layla, I wouldn't have an answer for all the questions she would have for me and I didn't know if I was going to ever recover from this and I would hate to lie and say everything is fine.

We just talked about Sam on the way home and mom said she really likes Chris. I think he seems like a nice guy he doesn't go to our school and since I haven't seen Sam a lot lately I don't really know him. That's all going to change, I'm going to make more of an effort to meet with her from now on.

By the time I get home all I want to do is take a shower and wash the smell of the hospital away, I must have been in the shower for 20 minutes just standing there letting the hot water drizzle on my body slowly relaxing me. By the time I get out it's nearly 11:30 so I hurry to my room and get dressed as quick as I can before grabbing my purse and heading for Hals.

"Maya I need you back here for 2:30 okay? I have to run into town and I need you to watch Layla."

"Okay that's fine, but i need to run I'm late."

By the time I got to Hals Sam had already ordered our usual, hot chocolate with whipped cream, cocoa powder and marshmallows on the side of course.

"Hey Sam so sorry I'm late, it took longer to wash of the hospital smell than I taught it would"

"It's ok I'm just so glad that you're alright. What happened, tell me the full story."

As we are talking I begin to tell  Sam all about what happened after I left her and Chris and how I don't remember anything apart from waking up in the hospital. I left out the bit about the dreams I have been having they are probably nothing but I didn't understand how I dreamt about Noah's voice before I met him. I didn't want to sound anymore crazy, so its probably best that Sam doesn't know until I figure it out. Then I got to the part about Noah. By the end I was almost out of breath I had so much to tell her. She had that look on her face and I knew she was holding back something.

"Out with it Sam."

"No, its not important" She said this with a devious smile on her face.

"Sam"

"Maia you so have a thing for this guy."

"What are you talking about I'll probably never see him again anyway so even if I did it wouldn't matter."

"Of course it matters, Maia you haven't fancied a guy since, well since  forever apart from in 3rd grade when you chased Jake around the yard for a whole week at recess until he pulled your hair and you hated him."

"Oh my God I can't believe you remember that. So embarrassing!"

"So cute though."

"Okay enough reminiscing on past relationships. Hows Chris?"

We talked for a while and she filled me in on Chris. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. I'm really happy for Sam. By the time I looked at my watch it was already 2pm.

"Sam I have to go, I'm babysitting Layla and I need to stop of by the library first. I'll see you in school tomorrow."

"Okay, text me and let me know that you got home okay. I'll see you tomorrow."

I knew mum needed me home so this trip to the library was going to be a quick one, I only needed to return my book and I decided to take out one of my favorites even though I've already read it one hundred times or more, Pride and Prejudice."

By the time I got home it was almost half past 2.

"Perfect timing Maia I was just about to call you. I shouldn't be long Layla is in the sitting room, I have to go or I'll be late. See you later sweetie."

"Bye mom."

Layla was really quiet for once so I decide to check up on her. She is in her room watching The Princess and the Frog so I decide to join her.
