chapter three

The four boys were standing on the edge of the cliff of the quarry as the girl sat waiting for them to jump.

"Who's first?" Bill says as the boys all turn to look her Emily and then look to Richie who walks over to the girl.

"Em, what's wrong?" Richie says crouching down to hold her head in his hands.

"I forgot my swimsuit. I'm just wearing my underwear" she says looking at Richie.

"Hey, nobody cares alright just undress and then we will all jump in?" Richie suggests. She nods and the boys all turn away from her as she undresses.

"Okay, so who's jumping first now?" Bill asks again waiting for Emily to appear.

"I'll do it if she does too" a voice says from behind the boys. They all turn round to see Beverly standing next to Emily, taking off her own dress.

"Let's go" Emily smiles as the two girl hold hands and run off the cliff.

"What the fuck" Richie shouts from the top as the girls land in the water below. The two girls swim to the surface to see the boys still standing on the edge.

"Come on" Beverly shouts up. The four boys jump down one by one, Richie swims for Emily and splashes her.

"You're so dead Tozier" she says tackling him underwater. Richie swims under her and lift her on his shoulder as Bill does the same with Beverly. The two girls push each other trying to make the other fall and is only a matter of time before Emily pushes Beverly and Bill.

The group swim around for a while and watch Ben, Stanley and Eddie splash each other. Bill and Beverly watched as Bill stared at the girl, whereas Richie was holding Emily as she watched and laughed at her friends.

"You look so perfect" Richie whispers into her ear.

"Shut up Richie" she says blushing and leans back into his chest. The two just laugh and sit, watching their friends.

"So are they like a thing?" Emily hears Beverly quietly asks Bill.

"Uh no b-b-but we are sure they like each other. T-they've been friends since kindergarten" Bill says watching his two friends with a small smile on his face.

"What the fuck just touched my foot!" Emily screams jumping onto Richie who catches her but falls under the water. All the boys dive under to see what it was.

"It's a turtle" Bill says as Richie comes up for air.

"You're so lucky that you are light Em" Richie says as the girl looks at him apologetically.

As the stereo played No More ?'s by Eazy-E, the boys sat and stared at Beverly while she lay down to 'tan'. All the boys gawking at her apart from Richie, who was staring at the girl who sat with her feet over the ledge looking out onto the quarry.
