My eyes fling open and I dash up. My hair stuck to my neck with sweat. Another bad dream. The same bad dream. I wipe my eyes and gaze at my alarm clock. It reads 3:00am. Great.

Realising I wont be getting anymore sleep, I decide to scroll through my phone. Nothing. I throw my phone down on the bed and gaze at the ceiling. Slowly, I shut my eyes; hoping, praying that sleep will take me. But, no luck.

The hours begin to pass and finally my alarm sings. Hitting snooze, I get up and go to the bathroom. Once the showers warmed up, I hop in. Boiling hot water hits my skin. Instantly turning it red. I exhale.

"Morning sweetie. How'd you sleep?" mum asks, concerned.

"Yeah, just great" I say sarcastically, while pouring myself some delicious coffee.

"I don't appreciate the sarcasm Atara. I'm worried you know; you havent been sleeping right for some time. You're even starting to scream in your sleep"

"Mum, I'm fine" I sternly cut across. "Everyone has bad dreams it's nothing" I say as I grab my bag and leave, not giving her the chance to reply.

I storm out of the house and into my friends car.

Gabriels my oldest friend. In fact, hes my only friend. Why? I'll never know. He's every girls dream: tall, blonde hair, blue eyes, muscly and he even plays the guitar. Dreamy, right?

"No negative vibes in the car Atara, even if it is a Monday" he smiles.

I roll my eyes, "Ha-ha very funny Gabriel" I tease, knowing full well he doesnt like his full name

Holding his hands up he replies, "What's got you in such a foul mood this morning?"

"Nothing, nothing. Lets just go"

And with that, he drives off.

We arrive at school 10 minutes early. I help Gabe carry his guitar and band stuff into the music room. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention? He's also in a band.

Once we've set up all the equipment the bell for class rings.

"Just in time. See you around moody" Gabriel waves his farewell and heads off to his first class.

I, on the other hand, have a meeting with the headmistress. Again.

"Good morning Atara. Come, take a seat"

Mrs Brown was a woman in her mid-40s. Despite her skeleton figure, she is quite pretty. She has long brown hair which complimented her fair complexion, hazel eyes and rosy cheeks.

"I've called you into my office today to talk about a few of your teachers concerns in regard to your..." she pauses, in search of the right words, "...efforts in class."

"I know, I'm really sorry. I'm a bit behind in some lesson, but, I promise, this term I'll try harder", I try and plead; I don't necessarily want to spend any longer in here than needed.

"It's not just the fact that you're behind Atara, you're also falling asleep in class-"

"I'm sorry, I've been having sleep problem but, I promise it's all under control now. It won't happen again" I lie.

"Well then let's leave it at that. Any other problems though Atara and I will have to arrange a meeting with your mother. Understood?"

"Understood."

I grab my bag and head towards the door when she calls after me.

"Atara, one last thing"

I pause and turn around.
