FORGET-ME-NOT

CHAPTER 1

My name is Alice Dawson. On February 2005 I was killed in a hit-and-run. I was only fourteen years old then. It's June 2008 and I'm still around but I'm dead so it's just my soul floating around. This story is about how I go back to earth to haunt those that killed me.

Three days ago, I was as usual hovering around Phoenix, Arizona watching the living with envy and with resentment. Looking at them I couldn't help but think how careless humans alive were, they didn't realize what a blessing it was to live until they died suddenly like me.

"Alice Dawson?" A voice called from behind me.

I turned around startled, I'd been around for almost three years and no one had spoken to me, I assumed that was because I was a ghost. All at once I was excited because, I had been lonely for so long and someone had come to keep me company or at least they could see me. But when I turned around at the man I would come to know later at Castiel, he wasn't what I had expected. He was glowing and shining very bright. Was he an angel I asked myself?

"My name is Castiel. I'm sorry it so long for me to come get you." He said looking at me with a bright smile on his face.

"Uh what do you want with me." I said floating closer to examine him (Alice was suspended in mid-air and looking down at the busy streets of Phoenix when he arrived). The glow made him appear more handsome than he would ordinary be.

"I'm here to present you with two choices." He spoke softly as if he was expecting me to explode into anger any second.

"What choices?" I asked him and moved closer again.

He looked at me surprised, it seemed I was expected to know these choices but I didn't have a clue. "I think you already know." He said. I shook my head and he sighed. "Would you rather come with me and cross over to where people like yourself are or would you rather go to earth and seek justice from the ones who killed you?"

My heart skipped a beat, time stopped and then flipped backwards to the night of my death, the face of those four bastards flashed across my face. I was walking to my grandma's house the night I died. I saw the car coming but I was walking on the right side so I wasn't bothered. I didn't realize they were all drunk and driving too fast. The next thing I knew the car skidded off track and it was heading towards me, by then it was too late I watched as the car slammed into me. I fell to the ground bleeding and my body broken. The four of them staggered out of the car drunk to see what they had done. They should have called the ambulance or the cops but they were too scared of what would happen to them if they did. I watched as they got back into the car and drove off, they didn't care how much I begged and cried. They just left me there. Those four bastards. When I was found later, I heard the cops saying if I had received immediate treatment I would have survived. I watched as they carried my body to a morgue and dumped me as if I was useless or that my body was a piece of garbage among the dead. My funeral was horrible everyone was crying and my poor mother, she couldn't bear to look at my broken and bruised body, they had to sedate her throughout the entire funeral. That's what those bastards did to me; they ripped me from my mom and my friends.

"I want to go back to earth Castiel." I said firmly, my blood was boiling and I was just dying to wrap my hands around the neck of the four of them. They had to pay.

"Alice, listen I understand what you feel and though I cannot make your choice for you I can at least guide you. Alice going back to earth is not the best decision, I advice that you come with me. You'll feel much better and less bitter if you come with me." Castiel pleaded.

I shook my head. This wasn't even negotiable, didn't he understand. They killed me and then they left me there. I mean if they had sent me to the hospital I wouldn't be so mad if I had died, but they left me all alone in the cold, helpless and left to die. Why should I let them get away with that?
