Beth hates the bus. The only good thing about the bus ride is Elaine. Elaine lives up street from Beth, but they rode the same bus. Elaine sat in the same seat as Beth, but they had no classes together, because Elaine is a Normal. Her black hair hung limply around her rounded eyes and her pale, freckled skin. Elaine liked the bus. Normals and Hollows she could sit with Hollows and befriend them, thanks to their neglectful bus driver.
There were some problems with riding the bus. Elaine felt her and Beth's shared headphone ripped from their ears. Not again Elaine thought.
"You gonna tell me what's under that scarf 'Lizabeth?" Rose barked.
"It's. Beth." Beth's eyes shone with a provoked anger.
"That's cute Lizzy." Boy did Rose like to get poor Beth riled up.
Rose sat in the seat in front of her and Beth. Elaine really hated Rose, and it didn't help that Rose thought they were all best friends.
God Beth wished Jane rode the bus. Elaine was great and all, but Rose was not.
"If you aren't going to show me," Rose smiled, "I'm gonna show myself."
"Dude," Beth eyed Rose. "There's a reason I wear this scarf ya know. You don't wanna see what's under here. It'll kill you."
"Yeah right." Rose snatched the piece of pink fabric from below Beth's nose.
Elaine screamed.
It was the only thing she could think of to do. Rose let go of Beth's scarf, after having to fight her for it. The bus swerved to a halt. Elaine might've just made a dumb decision, but she saved her friend.
"Who did that?"
The bus driver began pacing the isles.Elaine was very surprised at what happened next.
"I did." Beth said, rather sheepishly. The bus driver had her sit in the front seat for the rest of the drive to school.
.*:*.
"What is the meaning behind this?' The principle eyed Beth. "What provoked you? Was it another student?"
"Provoked?" Beth said, confused. "It was a dare." That was a lie, but she didn't really care. Beth was a good liar.
"Dare?" The principle questioned. "Who dared you to scream?"
"Rose. I don't know her last name but she sits in front of me. Bus 64." Beth tried her hardest not to smile. Revenge is sweet. Very, very sweet.
Beth was started when the door was pushed open. It was Mrs. Belcwood.
"I need to speak to Elizabeth immediately." Mrs. Belcwood said in a rushed tone. She grabbed Beth's arm and rushed her down the hallway.
"What did I do?"
"You'll see. Hurry now. We haven't got all day."
