Seven o'clock

Cheap decorations litter the walls of the school.
It's chaos.

All I can hear is the screeching of sixth and seventh graders and the boasting of the eighth. I'm looking for the one reason I came to this place, but it's impossible. You look above, and it's just a sea of middle schoolers hustling about. It's warm in the building, mostly because of my jacket.

I didn't plan on bringing too much, so I stuffed everything into the pockets of my jacket, which weren't too big.

The cafeteria is where the songs are being played, but I know very well that I'm not dancing.

I came here for the food. And a friend I cannot find. I start to wonder if she ditched me for another party. I want to go home, I'm done here, but I don't have my phone on me. I'm forced to stay here.

I'm deciding to go in the cafeteria. It is my last Halloween dance here, why not try something. Half the cafeteria is lit up for placing belongings. Half dark for dancers to dance. Songs are blasting and the children are singing and it's chaos.

Then I feel someone tap my shoulder. More than tap, more like shoved in a way. I turn around and there is a girl I know from school. A good friend. I'm not alone.

We laugh together, she is a god I think. She sparkles herself with glitter, and is giving me some too.

I am now glitter. I've never been happier.

Two other people are next to us and are acknowledging me, one is an army man, and one is Bob Ross. We laugh, and I've never been happier.

It's gotten so loud that I can only hear the people beside me, and then tell them all that I am going to get snacks.

The snack line is stupidly long, and I have to wait, so I stand. There is a girl dressed as a black cat coming near us.

She is the friend I was looking for, and I've never been happier. We laugh and giggle and scream while the god and the army man and Bob Ross join us, and I leave the line. I didn't get too far anyway.

I can't keep track of time, I'm outside the cafeteria now. I see my teacher of this grade, and my math teacher from last year. It's a great night.

Then the black cat goes off with her other friend, and the god and the army man and Bob Ross run off as their own little group and I'm alone again. But the glitter god finds me again. We together weave through the sea of children and laugh.

We find the army man and Bob Ross, the army man jokingly steals my money and I chased him, and we laugh when I catch him and claim my money.

We find the black cat and her vampire friend, and we laugh.

I've never been happier.
