*David's POV*
I quickly approach my glossy black Mercedes in the high school parking lot and click the unlock button on my car key in order to open the car door, adjusting the zipper of my black hoodie and pulling it upwards in order to shield my body from the cold. I climb in and escape from the windy bitter weather that was outside and setting myself down onto the leather interior seats. I flip the heater switch on full strength and absorb the blistering cold air that flows out before gripping the black steering wheel firmly in my hands after putting the key into the ignition and switching it on, pushing my gear into drive mode. I swiftly pull off and begin to cruise down the school's street, pulling out of the parking lot junction and driving down the road where most people used to walk home. I was one of the lucky ones who's parents were rich and could afford to get them a brand new car at 18. I yawn obnoxiously, reminiscing on the long, boring day filled with maths, English and history which I once again payed no attention in.I sit comfortably in my drivers seat and begin to pay little attention to the road, focusing more on the girls walking up and down the busy street, playing a game in my head to wolf whistle at the hottest one. I slow down the car and use the electric window button to wind the window down as I draw in close to a girl. Her blonde hair bounced in the neat bun that rested atop of her head. "Looking good," I wink, causing her to blush a shade of pink but also letting out a cute, shy giggle. I hadn't seen her before around school. I carry on driving until I find another girls who's ass stood out to me the most. I observe her purple tight figure hugging dress which flowed beautifully against her body beneath her black leather jacket. She held a grey leather bag in the right hand and had sunglasses resting delicately against the top of her head, her brown medium hair keeping them in place.
"Hey hottie! Nice set of -" I cut myself off as I realise who the girl is. "Sunglasses." I continue, trying to redeem myself from almost being a complete jackass to Natalie. For once, I was the one who was left blushing as I pulled the car to almost a complete stop. She turned around and looked at me with an unimpressed expression and whipped her hair around with attitude, carrying on walking down the street.
I smile to myself and drive up to a space on the side of the calm street where I could pullover in front of her and wait until she came closer to my car. I could see her staring at the car in confusion with her head slightly tilted to one side as she strides towards me. Natalie stops next to my open window and leans in, before I could apologise she began to lecture me. "You have a real way with girls, you know that? Grow some respect." She demands, showing me more of her fiery attitude. I loved it when she tried to put me in my place.
"You wanna ride?" I ask cheekily, winking back at her. She scoffs and takes a step back, continuing onto her path she was taking. "Natalie, wait!" I call out, she takes a further step before stomping her foot down and hesitantly turning around. "What?" She questions, throwing her arms down by her sides. The increasingly fierce wind lifts her hair up off her shoulders and forces it to dance around her head and face. "It's really windy out, get a ride with me?" I ask once again, this time more gentlemanly, with no cheeky attitude. She shrugs her shoulders and rolls her eyes at me, lingering there for a second, thinking about her decision. "Look, I'm sorry, it's all lighthearted. I'll take you home safe, no funny business, okay?" I plead, hoping to redeem my bad behaviour. Natalie sighs heavily before giving in and replying with an exasperated "Fine." I give a mini fist pump to the air as she walks around to the other side of my Mercedes and pulls open the door, before heavily plopping herself down onto the passenger seat next to me.
The smell of her fruity perfume instantly fills the car as I wind up my window, stopping the cold air from coming in and nipping at my skin. "You've a lot to learn, David. Oh, and by the way, I'm only accepting your stupid ride home because it's freezing cold outside and my dad couldn't pick me up, so don't take this as an opportunity to make a move on me, alright?" I admire her intently as words come out of her sassy pink lips as she tells me about how much of a deviant I am. I realise by the stern look on her face that she was serious and didn't want me to do anything stupid. "Got it." I confirm, respecting the fact that she didn't want to make a move on her, yet."So, what's your favourite class?" I ask, struggling to make conversation in order to fill the awkward silence that laid prominently beyond the soft purring of my car engine and calm traffic outside of the vehicle. I immediately regret my choice of question, considering we had just come from school and the last thing I wanted to talk about was that place that I spent 5 days of my week at. "Literature." She replied bluntly with no thought. I nod my head pretending to be interested and take the moment in order to look at the road in front of me. I concentrate deeply before coming up with a reply to what she was clearly passionate about. "Oh yeah, literature. How 'bout that Shakespeare, huh?" I blurt, struggling to think of anything relatable and also acting as if I had any idea of what literature even was about. Natalie bursts out into laughter, for the first time breaking the confident, stubborn persona she was playing. She smiles widely, showing off her white pearly teeth, allowing her glasses to fall down from her head, catching them in her hands. I giggle quietly back at first wondering what she's laughing at before remembering that I had just pretended to be into her favourite subject, saying something completely idiotic. "So stupid," Natalie laughs again, I join her, taking short glances between her and the road, adoring her smile and laughter and observing how her happiness alone could light up a whole room, relaxing the whole atmosphere.
"Oh, Take a left here!" She points enthusiastically, leaning forward in her chair and leaning over in one direction, pointing in the way of a turning off. I nod my head and use my indicator to tell the car behind me I was taking a left turning. It wasn't long before she told me that we was arriving on her street, and the unique car ride was coming to an all too quick finish. "It's the third house in, the one with the blue BMW parked in front of it, " she informs me, pointing to the car which she just described. I allow the car to roll towards the space in front of her house."Thanks for the ride home Dave, despite your completely misogynistic ways, you're not too bad, you know, for a dirtbag." She laughs weakly as I pull up outside of her small, detached family home. I peek out of the drivers side window and take note of the grey cobblestone brick built house, remembering what it looked like for future reference, maybe. I chuckle back at her and smile contently for a moment, admiring her soft brown hair, her silver sunglasses which were now resting on the bridge of her nose, her plump lips, her pale lavender dress accentuating her womanly curves. Our gazes seem to linger for longer than expected but I take the moment to move in towards her, slightly edging in on the space of nothingness between us. I feel my heart warm up from inside and begin to pound heavily in my chest as I realise she was staring at me with the same look I was giving her.
"See you in school, David." Natalie mutters, looking away from my eyes and out of the windscreen window, shattering the brief and special moment we shared. She pushes open the heavy car door, slamming it shut behind her leaving me speechless, for once. Within an instant, she disappears off up the path and into her house without looking back once. I sit in the car for a while longer without moving, absorbing in what had just happened and wondering why this girl made me feel a little crazy and made even the toughest part of me shy and soft.
