*Natalie's POV*
That was so strange, anyone could've sworn I just had a moment with David last night. I instantly open my eyes and squint around my bedroom, letting my eyes focus after just waking up from a long nights sleep. Waking up and the first thought being about a bad boy from school wasn't really what I had in mind this morning. I didn't really feel much with him but it looked as if he was about to kiss me? I brush off the feeling of not knowing and decide I would just try to carry on with my day as normal, shouldn't be too hard.
I force myself up from my puffy bed and groan, stretching my arms out into the cold open air that was filling my bedroom. I wipe my eyes and let my vision adjust to the bright morning light. I lean over towards my white glossy bedside cabinet and grab my phone, taking a glance at the family photo that was incased within a silver photo frame which lived on my cabinet right next to my phone. I give my phone a quick check but notice there's no notifications, not sure of what I really expected. I enjoy my last few moments of comfort sat in my satin pyjamas and heave my body up using my arms either side of me and pull myself into a standing position.
Time to get ready.I sit at the family dining table distracted, pushing around my drowned in milk cornflakes with my silver spoon. My head is resting against my other hand with my elbow supporting it against the hard oak table, my mother sits opposite me in her light blue fluffy dressing gown and matching slippers. Her mouse brown hair is thrown up in a neat ponytail and she sits up straight taking bites out of her toast every now and again. My dad was next to me with his rectangular glasses resting on the tip of his nose as he looks down at his newspaper in concentration. "You seem distracted honey, is everything alright?" My mom asked after watching me for a couple of seconds just playing with my food. "Yeah, everything's fine thanks, mom. I need to head off to school anyway so I'll see you all later." I dismiss myself. "See you later sweetie," my mom replies before my dad gives a half-assed "have a good day Nat." I push my chair backwards and stand up and head towards the door, leaving my cornflakes to soak up all of the milk in the bowl and my parents sat in silence before making my way to the front door and grabbing my black vans on the way out and slipping them on. I grab my school bag and hurry out the front door, closing it slowly behind me and feeling the bitterness from outside hit my body mercilessly. I take in a deep breath of the cold air by letting in a long sigh and begin my journey to school.
All along the way I think about what lessons I'm going to have today, planning out whether or not I had remembered to do my homework but mostly I couldn't wait to tell the girls about how things went with David last night. I was weirdly excited, mainly because I knew they'd freak out and be more happy than I was about the situation. It was slightly exhilarating knowing for once the boy who seemed to control everyone else was actually being controlled by someone, I bet he hated it. I smirk maliciously to myself, realising that I could have some fun with this boy, if I wanted to.
I arrive at the overly familiar high school, push my way through the double doored entrance and immediately I'm consumed within the loud chatters of what seems to be half the schools population. The smell of cooked toast and coffee fills my lungs as I step through the threshold of the door. I begin my search through the bustle of crowds to find my friends which were situated in the regular table we used for our girly chats and meal times in school. To my surprise, Ilya is sat comfortably at the table with Kristen, they're engaged in a conversation with one another, not noticing I was approaching them. "Boo!" I shout loudly, firmly grabbing Ilya's shoulders and shaking them, causing him to shriek in reaction. Kristen and I cackle loudly as Ilya tries to redeem himself. "You scared me!" He shouts in between laughs, his face still a bright shade of red. I throw my bag down carelessly on the floor between me and him and take the seat next to him. "Sorry Il," I put my arm around him and pull him in for a sideways hug, still giggling a little. "Of course you are," he jokes back, sticking his tongue out. I let go of his embrace after a while and decide to strike up an interesting conversation. "I wanted to tell you all that David gave me a ride home last night after school," I tell them before Corinna arrives, preparing myself mentally to go through the same conversation with her at a later time too. I observe their facial expressions to try and understand what they would make of that situation before their replies. "Oh my god really! Go for it girlie!" Kristen high fives me, bending over the table to reach me. I giggle slightly and connect my hand with hers for a small high five. Ilya sits there quiet, not saying anything. "You're not caught up on all the Datalie drama," Kristen tells him, making up a combined name for David and I. "Datalie?" He questions with an almost serious look on his face, glancing between each of mine and Kristen's faces in order to figure it out. "Well, Kristen and Corinna are convinced that David likes me and I like him back, which is clearly not the case-" She cuts me off mid sentence,"It clearly IS the case! He likes you and you like him! Simple," she continues, I shake my head in retaliation, rejecting any form of pairing us together. Ilya's face doesn't look impressed, maybe he doesn't understand.
"Corinnas clearly late, let's head off to class." I change the conversation swiftly, everyone nods their heads in agreement as we all stand up in unison up from our regular table and chairs and head to class early.
"See ya later, Kris," I wave goodbye as we head off in separate directions, Ilya staying by my side as we shared the same literature class. "Done your homework?" I ask, rustling through my half full handbag in order to find the crisp and neatly written on worksheet I had previously completed a few nights ago for homework. "Nope, of course not." He replies in confidence, throwing his hands in his black jeans pockets and shrugging his shoulder simultaneously, I shake my head and tut sarcastically in disappointment as we carry on trailing down the left of the fork in the hallway. We pass by many other students before finally arriving outside the classroom and open the door after we see that the teacher is already inside and waiting. We were the first in the class so we chose our seats in the back row next to each other and set down our bags next to the steel grey chairs before plopping into our seats at the same time. I set out my book onto the table and neatly place my pencil beside it, Ilya carelessly throws his book and stationary onto the table, allowing the pen to roll into the middle of the desk. I go to grab it for him, but at the same time so does he, our hands touching together like some cliche movie. Our pinky fingers lightly brush against one another and our touch lingers for a slight moment. I lift my head up and turn around to face him, he was already staring at me and our eyes connected in a fixed look. His hazel eyes intensely focus on mine and his mouth opens as if he's about to say something, but he doesn't. I observe how his chestnut brown hair falls messily down the sides of his head and how his facial hair grows out of control when he doesn't shave it for a couple of days. He smiles widely at me and I return the expression, leaning over and bumping his shoulder flirtatiously with my own. He puts his arm around me and pulls me in for a gentle hug in his muscly frame, I lean my head against his chest temporarily and breathe in his masculine natural smell mixed in with his cologne.
"Okay, you two. We're in a classroom - place for working," Mr Parker mutters across the classroom at us just before the door flies open and a hoard of students begin to pour in. Ilya and I pull away from the hug and settle back down into our seating and prepare ourselves for class to start. After the boring lesson finishes, me and Ilya make our way out of the class and begin to walk down the full corridor and towards our lockers. "Nat?" Ilya questions as I turn the dial on my blue steel locker. "Yep?" I answer him, grabbing next relevant books for algebra and stuffing them into my school bag. "Do you wanna...go on like, a date, date?" He nervously asks, scratching the back of his neck, waiting awkwardly for me to reject him. My heart fluttered lightly as I realise the boy I had been close friends with for over a year now was showing some actual interest in me, and not just in a friendly way. I always saw Ilya as more than just a normal friend, he had a charm that was undeniable and his sense of humour matched mine almost perfectly. After considering this information, I nod my head enthusiastically insinuating that I would love to go on a date with him. "So, I'll pick you up tomorrow at 8?" He asks excitedly like a kid at Christmas, smiling widely, leaning against the locker with his arm above his head. "It's a date!" I shout, jumping up and clasping my hands together as we chuckle together in unison. We smile at each other hopefully, once again.
