Chapter 2 - Common room

Harry:

Ron had finally found an empty compartment and slumped himself on the window seat. Harry took the other window seat facing Ron while Hermione sat next to him putting her arm around his shoulder.

„Why? Why Hermione? Why did you make us come back? HOW did you make us come back?!", Ron sighed.

Harry just laughed because he knew exactly how she did it. She guilted them into doing it. Hermione just grinned at him and said:

„I am smart and amazing. Thats how!".

The typical message announcing the arrival at Hogsmeade 5 minutes later, woke me after 6 hours of dreamless sleep. I hurriedly put on my Hogwarts uniform and we left for the door.

15 minutes later we arrived at the great hall soaking wet from the tireless summer storm. Just before the great hall were all the other 8th years waiting. McGonagall stood in front of them waiting for everyone to arrive. Then she started talking:

„Welcome back 8th years." She smiled around at all of them. „Last year terrible happenings kept you from your proper education. Everybody who came back this year can be proud of themselves for resisting the temptation of dropping out."

Ron groaned next to him and Harry had to fight down a laugh.

„There will be some changes this year since there aren't enough dormitories for 8 age categories of students. So we decided to make one common room for all the 8th years. We added a new tower with enough space for all of you. To improve the friendships between the houses we made rooms for two people each who will of course be from two different houses."

Shocked whispers ran through the crowd.

„I wonder what poor bloke will be in one room with Malfoy!", Ron sneered.

I gave a pretend chuckle. Oh god. What happens if I have to share a room with Malfoy for the next year?! He a absolute idiot! A pretentious prick! ......Plus I don't know if I would be able to resist him that long... I've had a god damned crush on him since I got obsessed with him in 6th year.

McGonagall started to list the roommates: „Hermione Granger and Pansy Parkinston, Ron Weasley and Theodore Nott, Neville Longbottom and Blaise Zabini,..."

Ron groaned at the perspective of his future roommate. As she went on further with her list I got more nervous by the second until...

„...Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. You will find your names on the doors of your dormitories. After the feast I will show you where your common room and dormitories are. In the great hall was a special table installed for all the 8th years. That's all of the important informations for now. Enjoy the feast!"

I just stood there for a moment, still in shock about what just happened. Hermione waved her hand in front of my face and I snapped out of my trance.

„Come on mate, foods ready!", Ron stated.

I wasn't really in the mood for food so I looked around the 8th year table. They weren't as many as I had expected. There were Neville, Luna, Ginny (she was technically in 7th year but since they studied the same they let her be with her friends after everything that had happened), Dean, Seamus, Lavender, Parvati, Padma, Terry Boot, Astoria and Daphne Greengrass, Theodore Nott, Pansy Parkinson, Draco Malfoy, Blaise Zabini and of course Ron, Hermione and me.

Draco:

After the feast, which I spent thinking mortally terrified about my new sleeping situation, McGonagall lead us up to our new dormitory on the 7th floor. There now was a little tower near the room of requirement leading to the 8th year common room.

At the top of the staircase they reached a portrait of Dumbledore. „Lemon drops", she said and the portrait granted entrance. As they stepped in a beautiful sight met their eyes.

The main sitting area by the fire was very Gryffindor like but there was a little library decorated in Ravenclaw style, a little potion brewing area and a magical window, enchanted to look like a life picture of the black lake resembling Slytherin common room and a miniature green house and loads of plants have been placed all around the room for the returning Hufflepuff students.

It was stunning. There were wow's and aww's hearable from my fellow students.

„Welcome to your new common room!", McGonagall exclaimed. „The girls dormitories are up the stairs on the left side of the room boys on the right. As I told you, your names are on the doors of your rooms. I highly recommend you, not to try and change rooms since they are enchanted to get back at you for doing so.", she said.

Shit. Shit fuck shit!

„I will leave you to get settled in now. Goodnight." And with that she left.

First there was just awkward silence until Potter decided to just collapse on the nearest sofa. Ron laughed and Hermione giggled. Soon all the Gryffindors were laughing and even some others started to join in.

People spread out in the new common room. Blaise, Pansy and I stood still in place, looking around awkwardly. Then suddenly Blaise decided to just drop his Slytherin mask and fell on to the sofa next to Potter, who stared slightly strangled at the cheekily smiling boy.

Harry:

I was totally shocked when Blaise Zabini just out of nowhere dropped his arrogant sneer and smiled widely at me while falling on the sofa so close to me that he was almost sitting in my lap.

My mouth just opened and closed. I must have looked like a fish because Blaise just started laughing even more causing the already shocked Parkinston and Malfoy to just stare at him like he was completely and absolutely nuts.

„What? We will have to spend more time with them anyways so why not just try to get along with them?", Blaise smiled.

Pansy sneered at Blaise and said:

„Sure that's why you want to be 'friends' with them."

„What the hell are you implying?!", Blaise asked cautiously.

„You're practically sitting in Potter's lap...", she replied smirking.

I felt the heat rise in my cheeks.

„Hey! Let me be gay in peace!", Blaise shouted and fake glared at his friend.

That was the exact moment Pansy couldn't hold it in anymore. Her lips twitched and suddenly she burst out laughing, falling on the floor gasping for air.

I was stunned. I didn't think that Slytherins could actually have genuine fun and be humorous without mocking anyone. Realizing that, I suddenly started to chuckle until I too was bending over laughing trying to catch air. Malfoy just stared at us in disbelieve.
