Negan was true to his word: he went to each of his wives and told them that they were free to return to their families. They were all a bit cautious at first, considering the possibility that it was all just a ruse. It took two whole weeks, but the last of the wives finally packed up their stuff and returned to their old rooms.
"I really just let 'em all go," Negan sighed. Carl was still in his old room, packing up what few belongings he had acquired in his time at the Sanctuary. Negan plopped down on his bed, rubbing his hands across his face and considering the reality of what he had done. He was living the dream before Carl showed up: a different piece of ass every night, if that's what he wanted. The face of each wife flashed in his memory, bringing with it the thought of every steamy night he had spent with them.
But then he thought of Carl's face and every memory of his ex-wives disappeared. Carl was different. He wanted to be with Negan, loved him even. No one had loved him since....
There was a curt knock on the door before Carl flung the door open, stepping into the room with the largest smile plastered on his face. He was holding a raggedy cardboard box, filled up with his clothes, some books Negan had given him, and... a lamp.
"Hey, Daddy!" Carl said in a sing-song voice. His whole being radiated the happiness he felt and lit up the room.
"Hey there, darlin'," he chuckled, "You know I have lamps in here, right?"
"Okay, yes, BUT... do any of your lamps have a shade like this?" Carl retorted with a smirk as he set the box down and picked the lamp up. He held it up in the air, motioning toward the shade. "It is a thing of beauty. And not to be an ass, but... your lamp shades are dingy."
The shade was printed with flowers of so many different colors and in so many shapes and sizes, it made Negan's head spin a bit. As he looked at it, he couldn't help but imagine a teenage girl jumping up and down in excitement as she picked it out for her college dorm, before the end of the world of course.
"I don't like that attitude you got there," Negan growled, standing and walking over to Carl to tower over him. "You forget who you're talking to?"
Carl just smiled, set his lamp back in the box, and got on his tiptoes to plant a kiss on Negan's cheek.
"Of course not, Daddy!" he hummed next to his ear. Before he could pull away, Negan grabbed him by the throat, squeezing gently.
"Oh, you've gotten arrogant... Guess I have to remind you what an attitude will get you," he whispered, leaning in to bite Carl's bottom lip. One hand still on his throat, Negan reached down and grabbed Carl through his jeans as he continued to kiss him, making him gasp.
He pushed Carl onto the bed and turned to open his dresser drawer, pulling out some handcuffs and rope.
