Chapter 24: (Aubrey's POV)- Three Seconds
We were in his room. I had just stepped out of the shower and walked in with towel-dried hair and my pajamas on. I was wearing my sweats with a full-sleeved tee. I looked around in confusion to see the room empty. Why was it empty?
"Parker?" I called out. I peeked behind the door thinking he was gonna scare me but didn't see anyone. Then I headed to the bathroom. "Parker?" I asked, my voice softer almost a whisper as I stumbled around in the dark, looking for him. Why didn't I turn the damn lights on? "Park-" I was saying but his voice cut me off.
Correction.
His scream cut me off. "Boo!" he shouted, making me jump three feet in the air as a shrilling scream escapes my lips.
"Piss off! You scared the hell out of me!" I slapped his chest with a lot more force than intended.
"Ow, that kind of hurt," he chuckled while rubbing the spot where I hit him.
"Yeah?" I blurted out and before I could process, I slapped him right across the face. I gasped almost instantly, smacking my hand over my mouth. "Shit!" I shrieked. "Sorry!" I pinched myself. Did I just do that?
"Did you just..." He struggled to find his words.
I should probably run.
"You're dead, Carthy," he spoke in a low warning way.
I should run.
"I'm just gonna- yeah uh ok," I stuttered while slowly backing up.
He grabbed my wrist and pulled me against himself.
"No head start this time?" I managed to stutter out.
He smirked devilishly. "You just slapped me why would I give you a head start?" He arched an eyebrow at me teasingly.
"Because I'm as slow as a turtle?" I stated but it came out more like a question.
"You're not. You run pretty fast," he chuckled while taking steps forward, his arm still securely wrapped around my waist, making me take steps backward until my back hit the wall.
"I bet right now I'd run even faster." I breathed shakily.
His arm snaked around my waist tighter. "Hmm. Faster huh?" he smirked while he began slowly leaning in, teasing and tauntingly.
I nodded while inhaling the oxygen that I felt like I was slowly losing. "A lot faster," I mumbled. The chuckle suggested that he heard, which only made me more nervous.
"Three seconds," he spoke slowly before letting me go.
And when I say I ran, I fucking ran. Unfortunately, I was able to make it to the couch before his arms grabbed my waist, throwing me over his shoulder, carrying me straight back up to the room that I had escaped out of.
"Wait, wait, wait! Pizza! I want it!" I punched his back, making sure not to hurt him this time.
"As you wish m'lady," he laughed before turning back around, taking me into the kitchen, seating me down on the counter.
I sat there and watched him as he heated it a little before handing me a slice with a glass of water.
"My turn. Do I get what I want now?" He rested both arms beside either of my thighs.
"What do you want?" I raised my eyebrows at him.
He refused to answer and told me to guess instead.
