"I told you, no animals are allowed in this apartment. Have you even read your contract?" huffed the landlord dropping his body on the chair she offered.
"I'm so sorry, sir, but please give me a bit more time, he is not fully recovered yet and I haven't found anyone to give him to," she pleaded.
"He's already been here for two weeks, how much longer you are planning to keep this...this..." he looked at the cat with pure disgust. "...thing here?" landlord finished his sentence.
"Please give me another two weeks! Two weeks is all I ask!"
The man eyed the girl up and down, his sleazy gaze stayed on the area of her chest for longer than it should have. He licked his lips and diverted his gaze back to her face. She shivered in disgust but tried to maintain her friendly composure.
"Fine, but if you don't get rid of him by the last day of the two weeks, we will need to come to another agreement." He sent her a meaningful look.
"Certainly sir," she responded closing the door behind him. The cat sat on the sofa with a grace of a lion and looked directly into her face. "Thank god he's gone. I'm not sure for how much longer I could restrain myself from vomiting."
She walked to the kitchen and opened a can of tuna. "Come here Leo, let's feast." She transferred the tuna into a bowl and placed it on the table. The cat hopped on and sniffed the treat. "You are so cute when your whiskers move." she smiled petting his head gently. "I just want to grab you and squeeze."
The cat hissed as if he understood what she said. The girl laughed and took a bite of the tuna sandwich. "But seriously, if we don't come up with something, we will end up homeless." she sighed heavily. "It's the middle of study year, meaning there are either no flats available or the ones that are, are way too expensive." she rested her cheek on her hand while staring at the cat eat. Leo finished and licked his face gracefully while returning her gaze. She petted his head gently, stroking his fluffy ears in process. "I love you ears," a smile crossed her face. "I love your fluffy body, come here you..." she grabbed the cat who made no attempts to run. Her arms wrapped around the animal snugging him tightly. Warm feeling of comfort and happiness engulfed her. "Don't worry, we'll figure something out." She whispered. The cat purred loudly into her chest, rubbing its face against her sweater."You know what, forget the tea. Let's go." She picked him and walked into the bedroom. The heater was already on, making the room somewhat warmer. The light went off. She dropped the cat gently on the bed and changed into her pyjamas. The animal watched intently, slowly swaying his tail side to side. The bed squeaked lightly. She pulled up the duvet and sighed.
The cat slowly crawled to her side, purring soothingly.
She smiled and closed her eyes. "Good night Leo," she mumbled quickly falling asleep. Leo stayed beside her for a while longer, waiting for her breathing to be deep and steady. His pink paws landed on the carpet with a soft thud. He looked around and listening for the sounds coming from the bed. Alex was sleeping deeply. He snickered, which sounded like sneezing coming from a cat.
"Good night to you too," he whispered lazily. Leo closed his eyes and concentrated. His body tensed and twitched before quickly starting to change. In the next second, a tall man stood in the bedroom. His striking figure looked out of the place in the small stuffy room. He looked at the sleeping girl for a while longer before quietly slipping out of the flat.
