[Flashback: Mo Xuanyu arrived]

"Wake up."

How long it had been since he heard a voice which wasn't a scream? Everything was engulfed in darkness with howls and cries. He had made terms with himself that it would remain his home till he himself become those scowls.

But the void was timeless.

"W-who are you?"

"Who can I be?"

"You're... Yiling Laozu."
The realization hit the fragments of his soul.

Did he fail to offer his body to Yiling Patriarch? Did he fail to complete the array?

Sang Xi? He's alone! Again!

Wait! Yiling Patriarch was here in flesh? if he could say that.
Mo Xuyanu could still save Huaisang.

"Master! Help my friend!"

Mo Xuanyu pleased, tracking the voice he just heard.

Wasn't the darkness terrifying? Wei Wuxian spent 13 years in endlessly cycle of misery. Accompanying the evil doers till he lost sanity. The state of being half conscious among  screeches and afraid to lose the last shred of light to eternal darkness.

Seeing nothing, hearing nothing and feeling everything.

"Why don't you help him yourself?"

If Mo Xuyanu had the tiniest ability to sense left in him, he could feel that Yiling Patriarch smiled for him.

Maybe it was that smile that cast light on the trackless path in agonizing darkness.

The whirlpool of resentful energy filled the room. It was summoned there by the people around. Was it their way to welcome him?

Mo Xuyanu spotted Nie Huaisang among the fallen cultivators.

Quickly analyzing the situation, He erased the blood array that was drawn on the floor. Right after, he checked on the cultivators that had passed out.

Had they all died, he would be blamed.

He found it odd how the Nie Disciples listened to his orders. Was it something Yiling Laozu did?

Mo Xuanyu didn't allow himself to ponder over the thought and begun to erase the resentful energy that might have seeped through the cultivators core.

                                                                                   . . .

[Flashback: When they all woke up]

It was quiet. After all the ruckus it was too quiet. All the trouble makers were unconscious. In times like these Jiang Cheng wished he could hear noises.
The silence killed him more.

Jiang Cheng was first to wake up followed by Lan Xichen.

Nie Huaisang woke up a while later and saw a figure on stand still beside him. The figure offered him smile which he (NHS) thought he didn't deserve.

"It's been a while, Sang-Xi."

Nie Huaisang grabbed the man with both hands, barely stable himself, he cried,
