It was a fresh week. I haven't seen Stephan since our last encounter. I was given two weeks from school to rest at home till I get better. I've been feeling much better since I came back to life. The only thing I needed was blood. Although I felt strong, I looked sick. The hunger was unbearable but I couldn't tell my family about this. My dad would just freak out, talkless of Mariam. I called Jane to come over after school. I think it was time for her to know. I needed someone I can trust and she was the only person close enough that I could share any problem with.
My dad had already gone to work and Mariam was already in school. I had to do something to take away the boredom till Jane gets here, not forgetting the fact that I was hungry as hell. I picked up my tab and googled everything I could about vampires.
There was a knock at the door. I wasn't expecting Jane this early as it was still school period.
“Hey, Stephanie. It's me, Stefan.” I opened the door to let him.
“What do you want?” I asked.
“You need help and there's no way I'm leaving here without trying to help.” he replied.
“Wait, aren't you supposed to be in school?” I asked as I shut the door behind him. He comfortably sat down on the couch like he owned it.
“Stephanie, you need food so I brought food for you. You don't expect me to bring it when your dad or your overprotective sister is around.” he brought out his school bag filled with blood bags and blood in them.
“Where did you get this from?” I asked Feeling concerned.
“Don't worry, I have someone who supply this stuff.” he said.
“Did you kill anyone?” I asked.
“Hell no, I got it from the hospital.” He tried his best convincing me that everything was okay. “Stephanie, just take a bag and drink it all up. You will feel better.” He concluded.
I refused at first but just the sight of the blood alone was getting to me. I needed it. I took a bag from him and drank. It tasted so well that I needed more. One wasn't enough. I took another and from one bag to another till he thought I have had enough. I wasn't still okay. Although I felt better, I needed more.
“Stephanie, you need to control yourself. If you don't, you might end up killing innocent people.” Stefan said as he pushed me away from the remaining bags. “I just gave you this for you to feel better because you needed it.”
He packed all the empty blood bags and placed them in his school bag.
“You should go clean up. We have much to do today.” he said.
I wondered what else he wanted to show me. I went to the bathtub to clean myself as he helped me clean the stains on the floor. I got out of the tub, wore my clothes and joined him in the living room.
“So what's next?” I asked.
“You will see.” he said as he placed his arms around me and suddenly we appeared outside the house.
“Did we just disappear or something?” I asked. Stefan smiled as he removed his arms.
“Vampires have this ability to run very fast. Let's say it's a gift.” he said. The sun became too hot that I had to go inside.
“My skin is burning." I said as I tried covering my arms with my sleeves.
“You have to run into the house as fast as you can, if not you'll burn to ashes.” Stefan said.
“Are you joking with me right now?” I asked angrily. The burn became too much that I could see my skin shredding bit by bit.
“Stefan please, make it stop!” I screamed. He rushed to where I was and performed the same stunt he had performed earlier to get us out. We were in the house in a second. My skin began to close back and the burn stopped. I was so mad at Stefan that I gave him a hard slap.
“Are you mad?” I yelled.
“I almost died out there.”
Stefan tried explaining but I wasn't ready to listen. I kept on hitting him till he got to the door. I pushed him out and shut the door behind him. After I had regained myself, I sat down and so many thoughts came to mind. I almost got burnt and he didn't, he could run fast but I couldn't. The sun had never released such heat on me before.
“Why now?" I asked myself as I sat there wondering what could have change.
