Walking through the dark bushes, I heard a sound behind me. I tried not to show that I was scared, but my heart pounded really fast and my legs shaking thoroughly as I kept on walking. I placed my headset on my ears to keep myself calm.
If I had known, I would have followed Jane home.
I managed to make it home alone and felt relieved reaching the doorstep.
I knocked on the door softly in order not to wake my father. I made a deal with my younger sister to stay up till 10:00 pm to open the door for me.
We were not allowed to stay out late, but this was one party I didn't want to miss. If I had, I would have been the odd one out. I stood outside as the door opened slowly. It was my dad. There was no way escaping the punishment that awaits me. He looked at me with so much anger as I walked in slowly. He shut the door behind me. I didn't look back as I walked to my room, expecting my dad to yell at me but he didn't. I stormed into the room. My sister wore a sad face with apologies pouring out of her mouth.
"Why didn't you tell Daddy that I was not fine and decided to stay in the room?" I asked.
" I did, but daddy insisted that I should call you for dinner. There was nothing else I could do. Please don't be angry at me." She said.
“ Did Daddy shout at you?” She asked.
“ No. He just opened the door for me, but the look he gave me was enough to kill someone.”
“ Oh dear, I am sorry.” She replied.
I went straight to lay on my bed without taking off my clothes. I was already too weak to go take a shower.
The next day came. It was a cold morning. I took my bath and went to prepare breakfast for the family. I cleaned the house so well like I've never done before. This was just to make my father happy. While I was doing all this, he was still in his room.
We normally eat together in the morning so I sent Mariam, my younger sister to go get dad.
After waiting for some minutes, he came to join us. He didn't say a word. He just sat down quietly. He didn't even reply our greetings. He just ate and went back to his room.
This was not the first time he had caught me coming back home late, so I knew he would forgive me after sometime. I just had to give him the space and time that he needed.
It was a Saturday, I didn't have anywhere to go so I just went back to my room after breakfast to watch a movie on my laptop.
“ Hey, Stephanie. You have a call.” Mariam yelled from the living room. I rushed downstairs to get the phone.
“ Who's calling?” I asked.
“ James.” She replied giving me a weird smile. I took the phone from her and told her to go to her room but she wouldn't.
“ James, why didn't you call my cell phone?” I asked.
“ I have been trying your number, but it has not been reachable.”
“ Okay, so what do you want from me this morning?”
“ So I can't call my girl anymore?”
“ We just started dating, and you are already bugging me.”
“ Why are you talking like this?”
“ Sorry, I am just tired. We will talk later.”
“ Alright dear.”
I didn't really like James. I just wanted to use him to make Stefan jealous. Stefan was my last boyfriend before James. I broke up with him after seeing him cheat with my so called best friend, Sandra.
Stefan was the hot cake in the school. Every girl wanted a piece of him.
As much as I wanted to make him jealous, i still wanted him back but I didn't want to be that stupid girl that will run back to him.
I dropped the telephone and turned back to my room. My sister followed behind asking questions.
“ So who is this James?” She asked. I tried ignoring her as I walked back to my room.
