The auburn haired princess slumped as she walked over to the black haired petite maid. She was dreading this meeting and more than anything she wished she could get out of it. The maid plopped the girl into a comfy chair facing her vanity as she undid the braids and began brushing the wavy locks. She braided her hair and wrapped it into a bun leaving her bangs loose. Then the maid applied make-up much to the squirming princess's demise. Once make-up was applied and hair pulled back, the maid left the royal to get dressed. The bright emerald gown was quite lovely even to the princess. It had mid-length sleeves and was made of silk. The lighter silk was accented with darker designs and gold. Once Princess Scarlett was dressed, ready, and highly uncomfortable, she trudged down the stairs and stopped behind the parlor doors. She could hear her mother talking to the suitors. They must have already been there. She gently turned the door knob and entered the small room that was decorated in bright yellow and maroon. There sat her childhood enemy and her two parents chatting as they sipped hot tea.

"Oh darling, so glad ya could make it". The queen stated annoyed.
"Come on and sit. I suppose you have already met Prince Gregory." The queen said happily. The girl stood in utter shock. He just couldn't be the suitor. He sat with a smirk on his face, his grey eyes stared intently at the princess. She looked at him in utter disgust as she plopped down next to her mother on the sofa and turned her nose up to the sky.
"I know ya two got off on the wrong foot, but ya can always forgive and forget". The king said. "You will marry Gregory and there will be no buts". The princess rolled her eyes, wanting to smack the black haired prince across from her. He was always mean to her and picked on her since they were very little. He even called her best freind an oger. It was times like these she wished her freind was still with her, but he went missing years ago, when they were only 12. She could remember it very clearly.

"Come on Christopher, let's play on the tire swing." The duo ran through a field near the castle with the brown headed lad leading the way. The princess mounted the tire swing as her freind pushed her. She felt like she was flying away. Her auburn hair rustled in the wind as she giggled. The prince then helped her dismount and they both sat under the tall oak. The boy looked at her with his blue eyes as she studied a cloud in the sky.
"What are you looking at". She said with her cheeks dusted pink.
"Nothin, just thinking". He replied.
"Bout what". She asked.
"Well, one day we are both going to be ruling kingdoms. I just want to have your promise that we will always be friends, and that you won't ever forget me". He told her truthfully.
"I won't ever forget ya silly. And that's a pinky promise". She held out her pinky with a wink. They sealed the pinky promise and took off back to the palace. That night the village was attacked and Christopher was taken. The princess hadn't seen him since.

"Scarlett, did ya hear me? The wedding will be in one month." Her mothers words brought her back to the present. The queen peered at her daughter intently, waiting for a response.
"What if I don't want to marry just yet." Not to him anyways. The girl yelled as her eyes grew wide.
"What's wrong scarlett, don't want to marry someone as dashing as me." The rude prince stated with a smirk.
"More like I don't want to marry someone as rude, ignorant and snobby as you! I will not ever marry you and nobody can force me!" Scarlett said before grasping her emerald gown and running ad fast as she could up to her room. She locked the doors tight, changed into a simple green dress with a white apron and golden colored cape. She undid the bun and rebraided her hair from each side, tying it in the back so the bottom flowed loosely over her shoulders and her bangs still covered her forehead. She then grabbed a satchel and belt placing her knife in the holder and putting necessary items in the satchel before carefully climbing from the window. The princess landed gracefully on the ground before mounting her horse and riding from the palace as fast as possible. She didn't care what her parents would do to her when she came home. She was going to retrieve what she had been missing for so long before making any life-altering decisions. She was finally going to get a taste of adventure.
