Alex called her mom to tell her that they were going out for the day, and would be back for when she got off work at 5:00.

"Want Starbucks?" Alex knew it was Grace's favourite place to go, next to Joe's, the local restaurant in town.

"Yes please!" Grace replied with a grin.

She pulled up to the nearest Starbucks and went inside with Grace in tow.

"Hey," she said to the cashier. "Could I get one tall passionfruit iced tea, and one tall caramel frappicino?

"Would that be all?" He asked.

"Yep!"

"Okay that would be $8.05"

Alex passed over $10, and tucked the change into a vibrant pink wallet that she had attained from Grace last Christmas.

They waited patiently for their drinks, and walked smiling to Alex's car.

Alex drove to the mall, where Grace beamed with excitement. After parking, Alex got out of the car and skipped with Grace, all the way to her little sister's favorite store, Sephora.

Grace didn't wear makeup and swore she wouldn't until she was an "old lady like Alex", but she loved to look at all of the colours.

"To the eyeshadow Alex!" She whisper-yelled, because she had already learned more than once not to yell in a store, or you would get lectured by an annoyed worker.

"Okay, okay," Alex laughed, some of Grace's energy rubbing off onto her.

They walked to the eyeshadow where Grace picked up pink, gold and silver glitter eyeshadows and laid them in a little shopping basket.

She pulled Alex to the compacts of makeup and asked her which one was her favorite. Alex pointed to a small $12 one, the cheapest one there, because she knew what Grace was up to. Grace pulled Alex back over to the eyeshadow and told her not to move and to look at them until she got back.

Grace speed-walked back to the all of the makeup compacts once again and placed the $12 one under her other makeup. She went up to the cashier and handed him 28 dollars she had saved mostly in toonies or loonies, after she dumped the contest of the shopping bag onto the counter. He laughed, scanned the makeup labels and put them into a tiny white and black shopping bag, clearly labeled "Sephora". He handed her back $3.74, and her shopping bag.

Grace ran to get Alex and walked out of the shop, dragging her sister behind her.
