"Mum, I'm home," I said as I walked through the front door to our small house.
"Whatever, how much did you make today?" Mother asked greedily.
"Only around 300 gold," I said.
"Only 300? That's a lot," she said with a smile."Now, give it all. I need to buy something."
"What do you need?" I asked.
"None of your business," she snapped.
"Mummy, I'm hungry!" whined Leina.
"Shut up," snapped Mother.
"Leina, come with me," I say to my little sister. She walks up to me, and I pick her up.
"Want to know where i work?" I ask my little sister. She nods. "Be a good girl and I'll take you there someday."
She squeals with excitement, so I put her down and let her play in the grass. She picks up the wildflowers, which I told her not to touch. She puts them down, so I take her back inside.
"I told you not to take her outside!" Said mother as she leaned in to slap me. She hit my face, so hard it stung.
"I- " I stuttered.
"Get out! I don't want you in my house!" She shouted.
"Gladly," I said bitterly. How dare she? I pay for everything and this is what I get?
I stomp up the stairs and into my room and pack my bag. I put some clothes, toiletries and food, before walking out, slamming the door. I could hear Leina's sobs and screams as I was walking down the road of the poorer neighbourhood.
"What is a girl like you doing out at this hour?" Asked a man next to a bar with a wicked smile on his face. I kept my head down as I walked past him.
"Oi! Stop!" He said, footsteps coming in closer behind me. "You little whore! Come back!"
I hurried away into a smaller road, which was packed with people. I tried to blend in, but my blond hair stood out against the dark colours of the crowd.
"Don't run from me, sweetheart~" purred the strange man as he winnowed in front of me.
"Leave me alone!" I screamed as I slapped him. He laughed.
"You're cute. Don't think that will keep me away me, love,"

I ran. My magic wasn't strong and there wasn't much of it, but I tried my hardest to winnow away. I tried, but I accidentally went inside some bar. I hurried out, hoping the man wasn't following me. Someone told me to go to busy areas if someone is following me, but it was the early night, everyone was still inside. The cold wind was blowing on my face as I ran, footsteps echoing behind me.

"Why do you keep running from me?"
I stop. I can feel him breathing down my neck, I can feel him staring.
"Leave me alone," I breathe. The road around us was silent. You could only hear the occasional sound from inside the houses around us, the townhouses of the rich. I keep my back to him and take a deep breath.
"Leave," I sigh, my temper rising. "Me," I say at a normal tone. I can feel something in my blood, boiling. Not with anger, but another sensation. Magic.
"ALONE!" I turn around to face him, and light bursts out around us. Suddenly, it wasn't so quiet anymore. The light from the lamps around the road went into the man in front of me, who was blown backwards and now on the floor, unconscious.
What have I done?
