Zak didn't reply after that, instead completely shutting off his phone and throwing it onto his bed. He wanted to cry - his throat was burning with sobs that threatened to spill out just like his words did last night. He didn't even know how he could've slipped up like that, and in a livestream too. He'd been streaming for years now, and he still managed to make a mistake this big. Thousands of fans had noticed, of course, blowing up his notifications asking if he was really dating Dave.

And he couldn't even begin to imagine what Dave was thinking. No doubt his Twitter mentions were skyrocketing - he had to have known by now, even if he hadn't caught his mistake last night. He hates me now, Zak thought, he definitely does after the stunt I pulled.

Zak didn't want to do it, but he mustered up the courage to search for the video clip online. Maybe I could turn it around, he thought, and pretend like it was all a big joke. But when he listened to it back, he heard his voice - genuine, soft, full of love. There was no way to pretend. He couldn't pretend anymore.

He liked Dave. Like, really liked. Or maybe he was in love with him - he didn't know. He'd never been in love with someone before. All the girls he'd been in relationships with, in the end it meant nothing to him. But Dave was different. He'd always been - even before they started talking to each other as much. He was funny in an honest, genuine way, making Zak laugh to the point of tears. And he was kind and caring, but in a way where he tried to hide it, brushing it off as a joke.

He was cute too. That part wasn't fair at all. How could Zak's heart not race when he saw Dave's smile, small but just enough to make him smile back? He'd never liked someone like this before. He had tried to deny it, he really did. He told himself that it wasn't a crush, that they were just good friends and that was the most they'd ever be.

It was pointless in the end. He was a bad liar when it came to himself.

But he didn't want him to find out like this. Honestly, Zak would've been completely fine with staying just friends with Dave.

And then he goes and fucks everything up.
