Chapter 1 // Once Upon a Time

Long story short, Felix was confused.

He was absolutely certain that the smoke had suffocated him, and he's confident that if the smoke didn't get him first then the flames would have gladly eaten him alive. Was he somehow mistaken?

Felix clearly remembers not being able to make it out of the building. Well actually, he made it out the first time but then he ran back in oh a whim trying to save more of his classmates. It didn't quite work out the way he had thought it would though, a flaming beam had fallen in front of him and blocked his path before he could reach them.

He died.

How was he still alive? And how did he get teleported into a forest? Was some god trying to play a trick on him? His hand crept up to his neck as he attempted to feel for a pulse, but before he could find it he sneezed. And launched himself into a nearby tree.

Ow.

What the heck was that? His hand clutched his head as he tried to soothe the bump that was currently forming on the back of his head. If he wasn't focusing so much on the pain he would have heard the crunching leaves behind him.

"Hey, are you okay?"

"HOLY SH- F- CR- WHAT?!" exclaimed the startled boy as he jumped a good fifteen feet in the air. The realization that he was falling from a great height had only increased the panic that the poor freckled boy was experiencing. Luckily the new guy had backed up before Felix body-slammed him into the ground.

The boy laughed, "I asked if you were okay. My name is Minho by the way, I came over because I heard an explosion," Minho extended a hand to the poor boy who gladly accepted it.

"I'm Felix... and my name is confused," replied the frazzled boy. "I exploded and caused a sneeze" he paused to think. "Wait, that's not..." Felix trailed off as he noticed Minho seemed to be spacing out. He went to wave his hand in his face."Minho? Hello?".

Felix was beginning to worry, the first person he meets after dying has become completely unresponsive. After what seemed like five minutes (20 seconds), Minho had finally broken out of whatever trance he was in.

"Sorry, I was arguing with some friends of mine." Minho apologized. "We were deciding if we should let you stay with us since you just got here." Felix suddenly felt self-conscious, he wasn't a fan of the fact that people he didnʻt know were talking about him behind his back. "Is your surname Lee?"

Felix's eyes widened. If he wasnʻt already confused beyond belief he surely was now, with an additional sprinkle of being freaked out. How had this stranger known what his name was? Should he lie to the stranger who had been nothing but kind to him? Maybe this guy could help him understand what was going on. Going against his better judgment, Felix nodded his head.

"That settles it then!" Minho smiles at the boy in front of him. "Would you like to come with me? My friends and I have extra space and it seems like you need a place to stay. It's getting late and the forest isn't safe at night."

Felix was speechless, his poor mind desperately trying to catch up to the conversation. He hesitated a bit until Minho spoke again, who had noticed the nervousness in his eyes.

"Look, I know youʻre confused," his eyes showing Felix that he understood. "But you can trust me, once we get home safely, my friends and I can answer any questions you have."

"Thank you," Felix says gratefully. He follows Minho as they make their way out of the forest.
