Everyone knows they're going to die at some point in time. Everyone hopes they get into the paradise called heaven, but sometimes that doesn't work out.
Rin, a nineteen-year-old girl living somewhere in Seoul dies after accidentally falling off the edge of a building.
After her death, she is met by a Carrier Angle who escorts her to heaven, but after a few minutes into their descend up the literal stairs of heaven, Rin and her Carrier Angle are attacked by Anvills.
Rin is kidnaped by the anvills and taken to The Empty where they place her in the middle of what seems to a ball room's floor.
Before anything drastic can happen to her, she is saved by an Anvivill- who goes by the name of Seonghwa- who was solely there to eliminate the pesky Anvills.
She feels as though she owes him her life, so she tags along with him and promises to help him destroy the Anvills with him.
Rin fights along with Seonghwa, destroying the Anvills group by group in order to prevent the resurrection of The Empty's dead leader, Deeail.

The Empty: A prison for humans after they die(the worst humans go here) It was semi-destroyed during the War of Deeail; all human prisoners were killed. Humans are still sent there but are managed under different districts.
- Deeail: Former ruler of The Empty (think God for heaven&earth and Satan for hell)
- Anvill: Deeail's henchmen. Low ranked soldiers. Only served him; had no choice in the matter
- Anvivill: Powerful, high ranked soldiers. Served Deeail.
- War of Deeail: When Deeail, the former ruler of The Empty, revolted against God and plotted to destroy him and take over Heaven and Earth. God- with the help of Satan- locked Deeail in a cage, where only the most powerful blood can unlock it.
-The three districts: Sunrise, Mist, stigma: created after the war in order to organize where the dead humans would go. some conflict exist between them.
