I got to the precinct, headed upstairs to our meeting room, found a seat, and sat down next to Sam. "Hey, do you know what this is about?" I asked her.
"I have no idea but he seemed pretty upset about something." She explained to me as she sipped on her straight black coffee. That's something I needed at that moment. Pure caffeine, because I knew this meeting would be nothing be screaming, and full intensity.
My dad walked into the room and everybody sat down. I saw the look on his face, a look of anger, and disgust. I knew that look, seen it plenty of times when we argued. I knew this had to be important.
"Alright, thank you all for coming." He said. "As you know we have a serial killer on the loose. Serial killers aren't new to this city, hell, they aren't new to this world but this one is very important. This killer killed a mob bosses hitman and his girlfriend which started a huge gang war. Then he goes to kill one of the best doctors we have in this city. The media is eating all of this up! And I am getting emails, letters, and even people coming to my house to ask about what are we going to do about this killer and this gang war we have on our hands!" As my father is talking I got a text from my husband.
He texted me "When are you coming home? I miss you <3" I ignored the text because if I miss anything from this meeting or if my father sees me looking down and not paying attention he would've yelled at me for HOURS!
"Now!" My father yelled as he slammed his hands on the table that he was standing in front of. "We need to do any and everything to stop these MOTHERFUCKERS! I will not be embarrassed because of some low life SCUM and a wannabe SERIAL KILLER! I will not be harassed by citizens because they feel unsafe! Because every citizen DESERVES TO FEEL SAFE IN THIS CITY! SO I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU DO OR WHAT METHOD YOU USE STOP THIS AT ONCE! OR THE GOVERNMENT WILL CALL THE ARMY IN, AND CUT US OFF FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD! YOU GOT ME!"
I felt the anger coming from his strong, raspy voice. I saw the hate in his eyes. My father always hated to feel like he was a step behind. Especially, when it comes to protecting the people of Clarksville. I've seen him almost drive himself crazy trying to protect this city. So, I knew right then and there we had to do something, and do it fast!
After the meeting I grabbed my phone, forgetting to text my husband back, and headed towards the elevator. I needed some fresh air, I needed to clear my head.
"Hey, Steph!" I heard Sam call out to me.
I rolled my eyes and turn around "Yeah?"
She walked to me "They just found two dead bodies." I swallowed real hard. My nerves were getting bad, my stomach took a turn, my hands were now shaking, and my vision started to get blurry. This serial killer was dangerous, deadly, and a serial killer that doesn't wait in between kills, is a serial killer who doesn't care about getting caught. Which makes him more dangerous."Where?" I asked.
"Behind "Stronghold" in Moundrich." She answered. Stronghold is a gym that Allen Mosbey owns.
"Come on with me, we can ride together, just like old times." I said as we entered the elevator. "Call Trevor. We need to get this bastard before he kills again!" I added.
"You think this is the same guy from that killed that doctor? And that couple?" Sam asked, a look of worry on her face.
"Unfortunately, I do." I said pressing the button to the ground floor. I felt my heart pounding in my ears. We rushed to my car, I opened the door, jumped in. I hear the vibration of my phone going off, indicating I have a text. I grab it, take a quick look at my home screen where I can see a preview of the message, and it's my husband."When are you coming home baby?"
I looked at the time, and the time read, five-thirty p.m. I had been at work since five o'clock a.m. And that night was date night. I promised him that we would have a dinner that night. But, when I promised him I did not forsee in my future that I would have a gang war, and a serial killer on my hands. I locked my phone and threw it in my purse, put my car in drive, turnt my lights on, and drove as fast as I could to "Stronghold." "My husband would understand", I thought to myself.
