They pulled up at Janie’s house and she hopped out, thanking Adam’s mother and waving goodbye to Adam. She sauntered up to the front door and took out her key, attempting to unlock the door but it didn’t work. She tried the handle, the door was unlocked. Was it a burglar? The police? Who? She stepped in silently and crept through into the sitting room where the shuffling of a bag of crisps could be heard.  All of a sudden, she swung round the door frame yelling, “Who’s there?” and she saw Miriam, casually sipping a glass of lemonade and eating a bag of crisps. “Me doofus, and I have exciting news!”

On her lap was Janie’s a computer and the email was open with a new email from… “Oh my gosh he replied!” Janie squealed, rushing over and sitting on the couch.,

“Yes, and I haven’t read it so this will be the first time for me, and for you.” She double clicked on the email and it popped up on the screen.

Hi Janie! Glad to hear from you. Are you freaked out about the dream as well? Cuz I am. Not sure what to think, I’ve googled every possibility. I keep thinking that one day I’ll enter the dream world and then never return here again. Can you imagine that? Family and friends gone. You’d have nothing. Well, we’d have each other but we both have parents and family and best friends and maybe even people we’re romantically interested in (I don’t have a gf, do you?). I would hate that, And the pain and the asthma. Maybe I would die in that world?

Anyway, off topic. After the last dream did you wake you with a large uct on your arm? I did, it was deep and bleeding and ouch. I was hospitalized again last night, but back home now.

Do you have skype or something?

Speak soon, Alex.

Janie was confused, so he was real, but what about everyone else, were they real too? He’d had a gash on his arm, her on her foot. They were both hospitalised. The thought of the theory brought tears to her eyes and she cuddled into Miriam. “I thought I was going mad, y’know. I thought they would have  me taken away. But now there’s someone else like me, maybe it’s just coincidence. Mimzy help me, I don’t want to lose you.” She started crying, sobbing softly and Miriam held her close, a discreet tear rolling down her cheek as well. “Don’t worry JJ, we’ll fix this. Everything will be ok…” She knew deep down it wouldn’t, but for now lying to herself and two her friend seemed to convince them both that their was a solution to this impossible dilemma.

“How about we write an email back, eh?” asked Miriam, wiping tears from Janie’s cheek. Janie nodded and sat up, pressing the reply button on the email.

Hey Alex,

So glad we’re talking in real life, I agree, the dream is scaring me, but I’m sure we’ll find a solution… Is there anyone else you’ve managed to talk to?

Yeah, I have a boyfriend, he’s called Adam as he’s the best, I couldn’t bear to lose him. I couldn’t bear to lose any of my family, or my best friend Miriam, or anybody. But this doesn’t matter, we won’t lose them.
