Forty three

Molly's pov

"Molly are you okay? What's going on?" Luke asked as he and Calum came running in to the room, "I don't know, he still isn't breathing" I told them, "He'll be okay Molly" Calum reassured me, "I don't even know what happened to him" I said as Calum reached up and wiped my tears away.

"Miss, we have him breathing again, however it is still irregularly and he is still unconscious" a nurse told me, "So he is definitely going to live?" I asked, "We can't say definitely, but it's looking likely that he will survive, we're going to have to ask the three of you to leave while we run some tests to see what the cause was" she said, "Okay, thank you" I said as Luke, Calum and I left the room and waited in the waiting room.

I was tapping my foot anxiously as we waited for the nurses to come back out and tell me I could return to see Michael.

"Hey it will be okay Molly, he will survive" Luke told me, I looked up at him and sniffled, "But-but what if he doesn't? What if he dies Luke?" I said, Luke sighed, "I don't know Molly, I really don't know" he said as he hugged me tightly.

"Uh, Molly" Calum said tapping my shoulder, "Huh?" I asked, "She's looking for you, I think" he said pointing to a woman who was looking around the waiting room, she spotted me and walked over to me, "Are you the girl that's with Michael Clifford?" She asked, I nodded, "We have news regarding his condition and what caused it" she said, "What is it?" I asked anxiously.

"He is breathing again, as we told you before, however now it's getting more regular and steady, he is still unconscious, though, and we don't know when he will wake up" she began, "So he will definitely wake up?" I asked, "There's only a small fraction of a possibility he wont, I can't tell you yes for definite, just in case he doesn't, but there's over 98 percent chance he will wake" she told me, I nodded, "Did you say you found the cause?" I asked, "Oh yes, yes we found the cause, now this may or may not shock you, I'm not sure how you will take it exactly" she said unsurely, I nodded as encouragement for her to continue.

"He-he had an overdose of several drugs, we obviously can't tell if it was accidental or on purpose, but there was a mixture of drugs found in his system such as cannabis, cocaine, heroin and ecstasy" she explained, my face went chalk white, "He-he was taking drugs?" I asked, she nodded apologetically, "Im so going to kill him when he wakes up" I mumbled, causing the nurse to chuckle, "Im not actually going to kill him, just in case you think I'm being serious" I told her, she smiled and chuckled.

"So can I go see him now?" I asked, "I have to go ask, but I don't see why you shouldn't be able to" she told me, "Thank you" I told her as she left to ask.

I turned to Luke and Calum, "So, a drug overdose? I did not see that coming" Luke said, "I really can't believe that" I told them, "I didn't think he took drugs" Calum said honestly, "I knew he smoked weed, but I didn't think he took other drugs, drugs that could kill him, how could he be so stupid?" I questioned, "We'll have to wait until he's awake before we ask him" Luke said, I nodded as we saw the nurse coming back in.

"You're allowed in, but remember Michael is still unconscious" she said smiling at me, I nodded as I walked to his room.

My heart broke in to a million pieces as I saw him lying lifeless on the hospital bed, same as last time except now, his chest was rising and falling again.

I walked to the side of his bed and grabbed his hand, "Wake up Michael" I mumbled as I sat on the chair next to the bed, constantly checking to see if Michael was still breathing, his heart monitor was still going, and if he was still unconscious.

Sadly he was still unconscious each time I checked.

I just wanted him to awake and be here with me, to cuddle me, to tell me he's okay.

But he's not okay. He's not even awake.

"Molly we have to leave, all visitors have to leave now" Luke said as the familiar nurse came in to the room, I looked up, my eyes full of tears, "I can't leave his side, what if he wakes and I'm not here? Can't I stay? Please?" I begged, the nurse looked at me and nodded, "Thank you" I said smiling widely at her, "But you two have to leave" she said to Luke and Calum, "I'll see you guys after school tomorrow" I told them as I hugged them.

"Call me if you need me" Luke told me, "Or me" Calum said, I nodded, "Thank you for being here for me" I told them as I hugged them before they left.

"They're nice boys, they love and care for you, you can just tell" the nurse told me, I smiled, "Yeah the blonde one is my twin brother, the other one is his best friend and my ex boyfriend, now my good friend though" I told her, "Im Nancy, ill be Michael's nurse, you'll be seeing a lot of me" she told me, "Im Molly" I told her, she smiled as she sat on the chair on the opposite side of the bed.

"Not to sound rude, but don't you have other patients?" I asked, "No, I'm just a trainee nurse, like I get assigned to one patient and I'm basically the one who stays with them overnight to make sure they're okay, and in this case, to check and see if he's awake yet" she told me, I nodded, "So you're going to be my company basically?" I asked laughing slightly, she nodded, "Basically yeah" she said smiling at me.

"I think you should get some rest, you look exhausted" Nancy told me, I nodded, "Its been a very long Monday" I said, laying my head on the bed, my hand still firmly clasped around Michael's, not planning in letting it go any time soon.
