Pinky P. Inky was a very happy person.

Now, most people would consider that strange, since he had such a terrible name. (His father had been drunk, thought he was a girl, and sworn to name him Pinky Pinky, since that was such a nice name for a girl.)

But he was still happy, deliriously so. In fact, he had never stopped smiling since that day...

As he sighed happily in remembrance, a cute little unicorn and its bigger unicorn mother pranced through his bedroom door.

Oh, that spell moody old Thompson had cast on him had done wonders to his life!

You see, what Thompson had done... was to transfigure him into a pink, fluffy, UNICORN!

Somewhere beyond time and space...

Now, children (for my race is old beyond comparison to yours), we shall take a look at just what, exactly, our dear Pinky is remembering. Like a Pensieve, we shall step into the memory of that beautiful time... for that is the power of the Narrator.

(A/N: This is just an excuse to write a convenient flashback scene)

In 1967, Hogwarts...

Pinky hadn't seen Thompson coming. Not until the wand was pointed at his face. Honestly, how was he supposed to know that Thompson hated having people sit next to him?

(Well, they had been yearmates for six years, but Thompson wasn't exactly friendly .)

The next moment, he was lying sprawled on the ground, furry arms and legs splayed awkwardly. As he tried to get up, he fell back down again, onto his... front legs?

Wait. Furry limbs?

He glanced down at himself, only to see pink fur, shiny neon pink hooves, pink swathes of hair in his... mane!

Pink muzzle! Light pink nose! Pink mane!

And a horn! A horn, coloured with the neon pink of all neon pinks

He was flying through clouds of joy, because the power of the Pink Fluffy Unicorn was...

AMAZHANG!!!

And that, my friends, were how unicorns came to be.
