This did not look good. I watch Drew, his face plastered with a look of disbelief, his gun drawn, watches as Michaela whisks around in a split second to focus in on who had just barged into the house, not knowing it was a human police officer.
Michaela in full vampire mode as her fangs are fully extended, eyes glowing blue, because of the current predicament with Tara, Drew's eyes widen in a look of terror, shock and full adrenaline kicking in, and he notices me, "Oh my god! Jake! What the hell is that?!" He says gesturing his gun barrel to the left, indicating I should back away.
"Drew that is Michaela." I say calmly. "Yeah Jake, I can see that! But what's wrong with her! She's some kind of monster!" his voice an octave higher.
"She's..." I knew I shouldn't give up confidential information, but he has seen too much. I take a glance at the Council members and Michaela's parents' for their clarification.
They all nod, giving me the all clear. I sigh, Drew eyeing me for a response, "She's a vampire."
"No, no, no, no, she's what?! They are not real!" he then aims his pistol higher to point it at Michaela; his gun starts to shake in his hand, as he becomes paranoid.
She hisses at him threw her fangs, that startles him even more, he screams in terror, on impulse he squeezes the trigger of his pistol, firing off three ear piercing shots, now this is where all hell breaks loose.
My eyes played all this in slow-motion, as we vampires have reaction times one hundred times faster than that of a human to the point we can dodge bullets, my defensive capabilities kick in to fifth gear to protect my mate from any harm. As the bullets left the barrel of Drew's gun, travelling at 2,500 feet per second, I put my arm up as I flash past in front of Michaela, stopping adjacent to her with my back facing them.Everything happened really fast, I turn my head to the right to glare at Drew, he was in a state of shock, still in the stance of aiming his gun at Michaela, but the shock was of because he noticed the bullets had not hit Michaela.
"What the hell?" he mutters slowly. I stretch my back as I give my shoulders a shrug, as I turn around I raise my arm up for Drew to see that what appeared on my forearm were three distinct bullet holes.
His eyes were wide in fear, "Jake, you're... one of them?"
I grimace in pain, as I raise my arm to look at the three bullet holes, they started healing immediately, as they started sealing themselves up, I watch as the bullets got ejected out of the wounds and fall to the ground.
The wounds healed in a few seconds, leaving no evidence of a scar or wound. "H...How did you do that? I shot you, Jake, how the hell did you just heal in seconds?"I grin at Drew, "To answer your question, yes I am one of them, I'm a vampire." I reply.
I watch as Drew not knowing what to think or do, take a few glances at the front door, as if to make a run for it and then turns back to me.
I took this as a sign, so I raise my right hand, gave it a wave towards the front door, as the front door slammed shut by itself.
I look at Michaela as she withdraws her vampire hostility gazing at me with a shocked look, "Jake, how, how did you do that?" she asks concerned.
"I... I don't know, I didn't know I could do that." I reply.
Michaela's mother Alison, strolls into the entrance way, as everyone seen what had happened. She points at Drew, he swallows nervously, "You, human, in the lounge room now. " he nods, holstering his gun and walks into the lounge room cautiously.
She turns to me, "Jake, we need to talk, you too Michaela."
She then turns to Tara.
"Tara, get in the lounge room and sit with everyone else, and no more fighting you two or you'll have to deal with me." She says sternly.
Tara nods as she walks into the lounge room.
Alison then returns her attention to me and Michaela, "You two follow me out onto the back porch, we will talk there."I and Michaela nod, as we follow Alison through the entrance hall out into the dining room, opening the door to the back porch as we entered it.
Michaela sat on the porch swing chair while Alison sat on a deck chair; I just stood as I leant against the porch railing as I faced them both and cross my arms.
"Well, explain?" Alison says. "Explain what?" I counter raising an arm.
"Your new 'apparent' abilities you just so happen to acquire, you shut the door with a wave of your hand, we have not seen those kind of powers in a century. So tell me and your mate?"
I give a big sigh. "I'm not allowed to tell you." I calmly say,
Michaela rolls her eyes, "Says who? You're my mate, Jake and my mother is here, a member of the council, you have to tell us."
