CHAPTER FIVE - REOCCURRENCE.
______________________________________________
I'm guessing the accident was the reason Jane yelled and ran out. I can't imagine Tessa was there. She never told me she was there and why did I run after her? Maddy kissed me in front of a strange dude and Tessa saw it and ran away? Why is this whole thing confusing me? I really thought I'd understand more if I saw this footage.
Jane pauses the footage and looks at me. "That's all the footage has, I'm sorry."
"It's okay. That was more than enough. Thank you." I offer her a smile as we walk out to the main store.
Tessa and I start heading home. I can't drive fast because my focus isn't all on the road. Tessa hasn't said a word since we left the store.
"Why didn't you tell me you were there?" I ask, not looking at her.
"I was there." She says, not bothering to answer my question.
"Can you stop acting weird and answer me?" I frustratedly yell and she flinches, resting against the car door.
"I'm sorry." I say quickly. I didn't expect my voice to come out so loud and aggressive. I scared her.
She sighs and looks at me. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. The accident was my fault and it hunts me. I didn't want to be the one explaining an accident that I caused."
"Oh." I say as I park in front of her house. "It wasn't your fault. I was the one who rushed out without looking." I say to calm her.
"I know you deserve to know the truth but I don't want to talk about this." She half smiles and opens the car door to leave but I hold her hand.
"One quick question." I say and she heaves a sigh before closing the door and folding her arms. "Who was that dude Maddy was talking to?" I decide it wouldn't hurt finding out.
She looks at me as if contemplating between telling me or not. She finally rolls her eyes and says, "It was Kelvin."
*********************************
I thought about the footage through out the night and my whole morning classes. It's the lunch break now and I haven't touched my food due to a loss of appetite. I feel a little disappointed as I felt watching the footage would make at least some memories return but nothing happened. Nothing at all!
"You should eat," Tessa says and I nod, not looking at her. "You need to eat."
"I do what I want Tessa. I'm not a kid." I snap at her but she doesn't flinch.
"I know you're not but I still think sitting, staring at nothing and not eating isn't going to bring your memories back." She snaps back and anger takes over my sanity as my nostrils flare up.
"How dare you? You do not have the slightest idea of what I am going through." I say through gritted teeth as I ball my fists, lightly hitting them on the table.
"You think?" She says with tears in her eyes, making me realise something.
"If you're my friend because you were the reason I had the accident and you feel guilty, having the urge to stay by my side then–" I trail off for a moment before gathering courage. "Then leave. I don't need you anymore."
Her eyes widen and tears roll down her face. She points at me with the intention of saying something but nothing comes out so she stands up and runs away. It takes a lot in me not to run after her. I get up, leaving my lunch on the table and go for my next class.
The classes were awfully slow for me with Tessa sitting beside me. She didn't say anything or do anything and once classes were over, she left. I feel bad about what I said but I don't know what to do.
