You lay in the bed, afternoon beams blinding you. It is a beautiful day outside. You are replaying everything from yesterday. How you slowly walked home, guessing how the Elders react about the big news coming (if there is any news). He walked you straight to your door and bid you goodnight in the most polite manners possible. You like this part of him.
Maybe that's why you've always preferred Gaara to Kankurou. Kankurou is very similar to you, Kiba and Naruto. Hot-headed, outspoken, not really caring about the right things to do or say.
Gaara, on the other hand, is calm, well-spoken, and polite. It's always been more appealing to you.
All those times Kankurou walked you home and just waved goodnight was nothing compared to last night when Gaara politely said goodnight and even bowed a little. You were almost swept off your feet. And when instead of just a simple handshake he actually kissed the top of your hand...
While daydreaming about last night, there is a sudden knock on the door. Fully aware you're home alone you grunt as you roll out of bed and head downstairs. You quickly open the door and there is a genin from the village, looking very bewildered.
"Excuse me, Ikigai-san, I have a message for you. Kazekage-sama would like you to meet him..."
"Kazekage knows where I live so if he needs anything he can ask himself." You interrupt little boy and shut door straight to his face, grinning.
Why would he send a genin to ask you to meet him? Why he cannot do it himself? He is the one trying to fix what he did, so why not to do it personally? He can't be that busy...
But then it hits you. He did mention yesterday he's got some stuff to do...
"Dammit!" You whisper quietly as you sit on the stairs with head in your hands. Gaara will not be impressed by this. Maybe you should have used your brain first.
GAARA'S POV
You've managed to get the meetings done very quickly, you're even on top of the paperwork. Doing your best to make sure you have as much time as possible with her. The only distraction is your brother, sitting next to you, babbling.
There is a small knock on the door and they open a bit. You can see the face of little genin you sent to arrange a meeting with Iki, and his face is bright red.
"I'm sorry Kazekage-sama, but she did shut the door to my face saying if you need something you can ask yourself as you know where she lives. I'm sorry." Says little boy in a very low voice, not even breathing, as he quickly shuts the door and disappears.
Kankurou starts to laugh uncontrollably, almost knocking over one of the stacks of paperwork you've sorted out.
"She really is a handful, isn't she?" He snorts as he's still laughing hard.
"I've gotta go." You say as you walk to the door, a small smile forming on your face. Were you really expecting this to work?
IKI'S POV
Around 45 minutes later, you're still sitting on the stairs, replaying everything that has happened recently in your head. Will he be angry? Amused? Annoyed?
Before you can start overthinking again, there is another knock at the door. This one is softer, more polite.
"Oh no..." You say, your voice trembling, as you're trying your best to remain calm. You slowly open the door and there he is.
"Little genin was almost crying." Gaara says, smiling at you as the door opens.
"Probably because he was scared you will count it as disobeying orders." You snap back, smiling as well.
