"Did you hear?" Your friend opened with as he sat with you in the cafeteria.
You looked up at him, merely raising an eyebrow to find out what he was talking about. You almost expected him to go into a story about a fight in one of his classes, or some girl he thought he had a chance with, but he seemed even more excited than usual."Do you know Jihyo from my economics class? Well apparently she has a friend she wants to set me up with."
"So?" You replied, trying to finish your meal in peace.
"So, I can never find the right girl. Maybe she's the one if her friend thinks we'd be a good match."
"I always thought you were more of the kiss, then tell kind of guy" You said finally looking up at him. "What's the catch?"
He scowled at you and started to eat his lunch.
"Jihyo said that she won't go out alone, and she'll only come if I bring a date for one of her friends too.""No."
"What? I thought we were best friends? Help me out man, please."
"We're room-mates. So, no."
"Last weekend you said I was your best friend"
"Last weekend I was drunk."
"I'll do your calc homework for a week." He pleaded kicking your leg under the table.
"Fine." You said, kicking him back and smiling at him, finishing your food.
"I should've known you just wanted something out of me too." He scowled at you as he finished his food.
"The dates tomorrow at eight." he said as you stood up to go to class.
"You're welcome." you replied sarcastically before walking away.
The next night as your friend scrambled around you to get ready you looked up from your books, put on a nice pair of shoes and threw a sport coat on over the plain t-shirt you'd been wearing all day.
"You ready yet?" The words shook your friend out of his daze. He looked at your clothes and sighed, putting on his shoes and standing up.
"Let's go. The restaurant is a couple blocks away, we don't want to be late."
"Just have my back, man. Try to make me look good." your friend stopped you outside of the restaurant.
"Calm down, you're bright red." you replied.
"It'll be fine, just be yourself and you'll be fine."
You pushed him in front of you and entered the restaurant behind him. As you made your way around all of the tables you heard your friend introduce himself to someone.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Nayeon" The girl replied. She was gorgeous, you didn't expect to see anyone who looked half as good as her, and her smile was warm and welcoming. She moved her glance from your friends to you, and a second later she motioned to her friend.
"I'm Y/N." You said to the girl who had just walked over to you. "Nice to meet you." You were forcing a smile, and hoping it wasn't obvious.
The girl introduced herself and quickly returned to her seat. Your friend nudged your arm as you sat next to him. He looked over to you and raised his eyebrows for a quick second before turning back and starting a conversation with Nayeon. The girl across from you didn't seem interested in having a conversation, she was probably in the same boat as you.
As you looked through the menu you felt your friend nudge your arm again.
"Right?" he said smiling and quickly turning back to Nayeon.
"What?" you said looking at your friend and trying not to stare at Nayeon.
"I was just telling Nayeon how I got a B in Comp Sci last semester, and I could help her with her homework" He shot you a dirty look for not paying attention.
"Didn't I do half of your labs for you?" You replied nudging at his arm to make him stop.
Nayeon chuckled, but he didn't seem to notice, he glared at you again and turned back to try to recover.
And that's how the rest of the night went, your friend tried to make himself look good, and you tried to ruin it. Your date barely looked at you, but you did hear her chuckle at some of your jokes, before she stopped herself and whispered something to Nayeon. Nayeon smiled at you and laughed every time you made a joke, and your friends nudges became a little harder each time.
By the end of the night Nayeon seemed happy. Your date didn't seem to care, and as the four of you walked back to the dorms, but somehow the girls had switched. Nayeon was walking next to you, and your date was ahead of you distracting your friend who was glancing back to see Nayeon.
"Did you have a good time?" She asked leaning forward to see your face as you walked.
"Yeah. Don't take what I said to heart. He's a nice guy, I just like to mess with him a little bit." you replied."I've noticed." She said giggling as she spoke. "You were really funny tonight." she said lightly hitting your arm as you walked.
"Thanks" you answered with a laugh.
It was a little awkward and your friend seemed a little annoyed by it, but it seemed like Nayeon didn't really want to talk to him. She continued to walk beside you the entire walk back to her dorm.
"Hey." You turned to look at Nayeon, and before you realized what had happened she had grabbed your arm and pulled you into a small park near the dorms. You let her pull you all the way to the tree in the center of the park before she stopped.
"What's going on?" you said slowly turning around, looking at how the park you walked through a hundred times before looked so much different and more beautiful at night.
"I wanted to ask you something without the others hearing." She answered peeking over your shoulder to see of the other two followed you.
"What is it?"
She seemed nervous, but after a few moments of awkwardness she stood on her toes and quietly whispered in your ear.
"I wanted to know if you would like to go out again sometime?" she stood back flat on her feet and looked at your chest keeping her eyes from meeting yours.
Before you could muster the courage to respond she said, "I don't want you to get into a fight with your friend about it, I shouldn't have even asked you. I'm so sorry I'm going to just go."
As the girl turned to leave all the courage you couldn't find before came to you and you grabbed her wrist stopping her from going any further.
"I'd love to. Want to get some coffee before class on Monday?" you asked.
You let go of her wrist and she turned back to look at you and nodded slightly before looking up at you and smiling shyly.
"Come on, I'll walk you to your dorm." You turned to walk away but the girl didn't move to follow, the shy expression hadn't left her face.
You sighed slightly and grabbed her hand and pulled her into walking beside you. It took almost the rest of the walk for her to almost act as cheerful and energetic as she had been before. When you reached the door to the girls dorm she stopped and spoke to you for the first time since the park.
"Coffee on Monday. You're sure, right?" she asked
"I wouldn't miss it for the world"
"Okay," she said looking up at you, now smiling brightly "Text me, okay?"
You stood and stared through the glass doors of the dorm, as Nayeon go into the elevator, and disappeared from view. You cheerfully walked back to your dorm, almost unable to hide your excitement. Your roommate looked at you funny when you walked in, and plopped down on the bed, but you didn't care, you just couldn't wait until Monday.
