It has been over a month now since Taehyung and him broke up. It was a sad break up that took place due to misunderstandings. They both had the same friends group so it was difficult to avoid each other but everytime Jeongguk sees the distant look in the eyes, that once held so much love for him, makes his heart ache.

But he cant blame tae. It was his fault. If only he hadnt agreed to help his bench mate Minhyuk on his heat, this wouldnt have happened. He still remembered that day.

"ugh dude. Your scent is all over me. No matter how many times i shower it just wont scrub off"

"quit whining. I also smell like bubble gum. Cant wait to meet tae and drown in his strawberry scent"

"oof. Couples. Anyways thanks for the help bro. Sorry for calling you so late."

"nah man, anytime." when he received a call from minhyuk last night, his pained voice begging for his help, Jeongguk couldnt just leave him in pain. Knowing he could help. And its not like Taehyung doesnt know Minhyuk.  He trusts him. It was just heat partner thing. No feelings involved.

But then the rumours spread throughout the whole campus that him and minhyuk were now mates –even smelt like each other–and how he had cheated on Taehyung. And of course Taehyung heard them. Of course Taehyung wouldnt let Jeongguk explain and cut things off.

Jeongguk didnt know what to do.  It felt like a part of him was taken away from him. Even though he sees Taehyung everyday, it isnt the same. It pained him to see Taehyung come to class the next day with red, puffy eyes. Pained him even more when he realized they were because of him.

Minhyuk had felt so guilty about this too. Blaming himself for everything that happened. But Jeongguk tried to assure him that its not his fault. It was Jeongguk's.

It was difficult for him to act like they were friends and everything was okay between them whenever they were with their friends. Atleast for him. He didnt know about Taehyung. He's always been a good actor.

He was running late for his class that day. He quickly grabs his bag and keys and sprints towards his class. The teacher was already there so it was a surprise when he entered and saw taehyung wasnt there yet.

/did he also oversleep?/

The leacture goes by in a blur and he heads towards the cafeteria where he meets Jimin and Hoseok. He isnt sure if he should ask them about Taehyung or not, wondering if it would be weird for him to ask as they no longer were dating. But hey, they were still
/friends/ and its normal for friends to worry about each other.

"ahh that... should we tell him jimin"

Jimin shrugs and says, "hes on his heat"

/Oh./

Now that he thinks about it, this was Taehyung's first heat after their breakup. He cant help but be worried.

/Is he holding up fine? I hope he's eating well. What if it burns too much? Does he have painkillers at home? What about clean blankets–/

"He doesnt have an alpha to help him." jimin interrupts his thoughts.
Jeongguk looks down feeling the slightest bit of bitterness at the thought of some random alpha helping Taehyung during his heat. But he doesnt have any right to be angry or jeleous. Isnt that what he did too?

"You should.... go check on him. He probably needs you.." hoseok says hesistently.

Jeongguk's not sure how Taehyung would react on seeing him at his door. Would he be happy? —relieved maybe? Or would he feel angry at how low Jeongguk has gone to show up for helping another omega— his ex—in heat.
