Chapter 2- Timeskip
A year has passed already, having to move homes because of monsters is very annoying... I should probably just ask the nearby village if I can live there, but they're weird...
"Speaking of weird frog slime feels and smells funny,"
Dropping the frog leg on my house floor, I took out a knife and began to prepare it to eat. As I began to cut the frog, the walls in my home began to shake, and soon my windows shattered, and a few seconds later, I heard an explosion. I quickly moved my head, and a rock flew right past me. Dropping the toad, I went ahead went to investigate
[Did someone just use an explosion spell?]
From what I know, an explosion spell is one of the more powerful spells to learn. But not only does it use up WAY too much mana. The time it takes to fully charge the spell, so it leaves you as a big target, and unless the target is sitting still, the chance of you hitting what you want is near zero.
When I got to the source of the explosion, I saw a young girl, which looks to be around my age, on the floor looking with a satisfied expression.
"umm, are you alright?" I ask
"Of course I am! After all, this is the best explosion to date!" she said proudly.
[....She's weird]
It seems that I wasn't the only one who got curious about the noise.
"Tch- great.. monsters... you should get up and-"
"I can't," she said bluntly.
*Moment of awkward silence*
"W-what?"
Digging my fingers into the dirt, I used transmutation to alter the earth around me, creating a wall.
"I can't get up. Using explosion magic uses up all of my mana, so I am limited to using it once a day,"
I could hear the creatures trying to get in.
"Then why'd you use it in a monster-filled forest?!" I yelled
some of the dirt walls began to fall apart, so I tried fixing it
"I am an arch wizard with a profound love for explosion magic! Though I am limited to using it once a day! Though it leaves me too exhausted to move! Casting explosion spells is my only desire! It's my only goal in life!" she said in a confident tone.
"....ugh," I groaned as I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Look, I admire your admiration for explosion magic. But I don't think using something that would leave you completely vulnerable to a deadly forest is a good idea. You don't mind me carrying you, right?" I asked
"No, not at all," she said bluntly.
"Good, "I said as I picked her up.
Taking a deep breath, I then activated Deceiving eyes to make us look like the surrounding area. I tried running as far as I could before the skill overloaded my brain. after placing the girl under a nearby tree, I took out a small glass bottle that had a purple liquid in it
"Here, "I said, handing her a potion.
"What is it?" She asked
"It's a mana potion. It should give you enough mana to walk,"
Mana potion, she said as she held it. She then looked at the tag on it, her eyes went wide, and then got up even though she didn't drink the potion.
"Wait... you're Y/N?!" she said
"Yup, that's me,"
[Now that I get a good look at her, she looks like a crimson demon. With glowing red eyes being their defining trait and all]
Being one of the few people who do trading with the small village, some, if not all, of the people living in the village, know about me.
"Thanks to you, we were able to afford ourselves enough food! I am very grateful for that," she said while bowing her head.
"Umm.. you're welcome?... Wait, is your father Hyoizaburoo?"
Hyoizaburoo is one of the people I buy stuff from. Even if some, well, most of the things he sells don't work, I'd either improve it or repair them to get it to work. He's also the only one of the people I trade with having a daughter.
"Yes," she responded.
We talk for a bit more, and after that, we head to our own paths, but soon after, I find her following me.
"So... why are you following me?"
"I need someone to carry me when I use my explosion spell,"
I stood in silence for a moment before saying something.
"It's better if you find someone else to carry you. I haven't gone anywhere else, and I don't plan on doing so."
"Don't you know anyone else? and plus, I kind of live far away so..."
"Why is that?" She immediately asked
"The answer to that is simple: I like places that are quiet,"
"You're afraid of people?"
"N-no," I said rather nervously.
[I do find them annoying...]
"Then carry me every time I use my explosion spell," She said
"... Alright, just stop following me, ok?"
"Sure," she said and began to walk the opposite way I was
