Chapter 1

December Saturday 7, 2011

It's been getting hard after my parents had a fight the house is so dark and gloomy.
My name is Raven Black I am 15 years old and I have been stressed out a lot ever seens my mom and dad broke up. I try to make life seem fun and happy but it never works.
I'm at waiting for the bell to ring for lunch/recess to come so I can relax instead of listening to boring teachers talk about history.
"Hey Raven!" Crystal calls from behind me.
Crystal is my best friend who is always there for me even know she is my only friend I have.
"Hey Crystal," I reply as we walk around the grass and talk.
"So... How are you doing?" She asked.
"I guess I'm ok today," I say just shrugging my shoulders.
"Just ok? You sound tired were you up late again?" She asked.
Before I could answer she already knew what I was going to say.
"Oh Raven! You have to sleep! I know it's hard for you but just try to have fun and get some rest it will help." She scowled at me.
We go to lunch after recess was over and sit down. I try to do what she told me
"Try to have fun!" I think over and over again "Fun" it's been so long I have forgotten how to have fun...
As I walk home I go to the gas station to get some Snickers my favorite candy I get when I walk home from school. I go to the candy area grab the Snickers pay for it then went home.
"Mom, I'm home!" I yell.
No answer she was probably still at work or went to a few stores. So I do my chores so she doesn't come home and yell at me telling me to do the chores. I sit down on the chair and do my homework then turn on my playstation to watch Netflix. I normally watch Animes I love them I mean other movies and episodes are good too but I like Anime more.
After a few episodes of 3 different Animes I look at the time. 7:30pm. It's been 4 hours and my mother wasn't home. I look at my phone... No messages or calls. I call my mom only to hear a voice mail. Great. She better either be at a hotel or at a friends house!
I go to my room got my pajamas on then crawled into bed and tried to get some sleep. I can't remember the last time I got a decent sleep. I closed my eyes and fell into to a deep sleep.
I wake up my eyes wide open. Huh. Normally I'm still half asleep I guess it does help to get some rest. I get out of bed with my stomach making noises. I go to the kitchen made some pancakes for breakfast got dressed then went to my moms room to see if she was there but she wasn't. I sign. I went out the door waited for Crystal.
On our way to school I told Crystal how I was feeling and she was happy on what I told her.
"You know what, I'm going to start a fresh new life!" I said smiling.
"I'm so happy for you Raven I hope you will like you're "New Life"" Crystal said.
We walk into school and go around the corner but I bump into someone and fall to the floor.
"I'm so sorry I didn't see you coming!" I said apologetically.
I look up to see a new guy I think seens I never seen him before. He has black hair like mine and these gorgeous blue eye. Wait what?
"It's ok besides how could you see me from around the corner," He said with a small laugh.
He got up and offered a hand to me taking his hand it felt smooth and warm. My face turns red and Crystal didn't miss it. Of course she didn't.
"My name is Alexander," he said.
"I'm Raven and this is my friend Crystal," I reply.
"Best friend!" She added.
"Nice to meet you both," he said smiling.
The class bell rings and we rush to class. When I sit down I noticed Alexander was in our class he sat in the back row of the classroom. I was drawing in my notebook when Crystal started asking me questions.
"So... What do you think about the new guy?" She said grinning.
I roll my eyes.
"He seems nice..." I said.
I look at my notebook what I was doing or drawing it looked like some sorta animal thing that isn't finished.
"That's it? No he's cute or anything? What happened! I saw your face turning red!" She said a little too loud.
"Shhhh! Don't talk so loud!" I whispered looking around to see if anyone was listening.
"Well?" She said.
I laugh a little and she just looks at me in the eyes like I am hiding something.
Her eyes widen and she gasps.
"You like him don't you!" She yells.
My face turns red. How does she know something by just reading their faces!
"N-No I don't! That's just weird liking someone you just meet and lower your voice! someone will hear you!" I hiss feeling nervous.
"You do I can tell! This is epic!" She said.
"No I don't! Now be quiet the teacher will hear you shouting!" I said.
After that she stopped talking but just kept a big smile on her face. I'll tell you one thing about having a best friend they can be so weird when you tell them stuff. I wonder if Crystal thinks the same thing. Probably not I think she just thinks I'm stubborn sometimes which I am.
The next day I got to school early normally I don't but I guess I felt like being there early for some reason.
"Ok, who are you? And what did you do with my best friend Raven?" Crystal teased.
"Well let's just say the old Raven is gone and a new one was born!" I say cheerfully.
Crystal smiles and gives a big squeeze. I smile and hug her back.
"So... You know that guy you like?" Crystal asked smirking.
"I don't like him I mean I do just not like like..." I said awkwardly feeling my cheeks heat up.
"Yeah ok! Anyways I caught him staring at you in class!" She squealed.
My eyes widen.
"Really? I wonder why..." I said.
"Yeah I wonder why? Umm Hello! I think he likes you!" She said jumping.
"Yeah right! He was probably just staring off into space which he happens to be staring in my direction I mean a lot of people do that," I said walking to my locker.
"Sure think what you want and I will think what I want! Well see you in class or whatever got to go," She said walking off to her locker.
I put my backpack in my locker and grab my Social Studies binder. When I shut my locker I get trapped by two strong hands blocking both sides for me to escape. I look up and noticed it was Austin Hunter. Perfect. He's the last person I want to be around.
"Where do you think you're going Monster Freak?" He asked.
Austin has been calling me Monster Freak because I like to watch horror movies a lot.
"Class where else would I be goin?" I said flatly.
Austin's friends make an 'Ooo' sound I almost didn't see them there.
"Why don't you go back to where you live in the cave!" Austin replies.
"That was a really lame combat Austin, can't you annoy someone else other than me? I mean what did I ever do to you other than this," I say then kick him in the shin.
Austin winced in pain jumping back and I start walking away quickly but his 'gang' grabs me by the arms. Austin stands up with a furious look in his eyes and I get a little scared.
"You're going to pay for that!" He shouts.
"Well too bad Austin deal with it!" I shout back.
Maybe I should just keep quiet cause that really got him mad. But I felt a little competition wouldn't hurt. Then again I'm being held by his friends not able to get away.
"Well maybe I should just punch you in the face!" He said with a wicked grin.
"Go ahead! You wont do it cause you are a coward!" I yell.
I heard his friends start laughing and Austin just looked at me with angry eyes. I just grinned. This is actually fun what happened to me? I used to fight with Austin all the time before I had problems with my family and here I am again fighting back and winning the fight!
"You want to bet! I can hit you ri-" He said but I interrupted him.
"Actually I don't want to bet because I know you won't! You never hit a girl in your life! Plus you're too chicken to do it aren't you?" I said having a plan.
"What are you talking about?" He said sternly.
"I'm talking about love Austin! You're in love with me!" I shouted.
Austin looked at me with wide eyes. Wait was what I said... True?
"Y-You're on drugs Freak!" He stuttered.
"Again lame combat," I say.
I had enough so I bite his friends hand then kicked them and ran.
After I had that fight with Austin Hunter I couldn't stop smiling. I just had the greatest time messing around I had to tell Crystal.
"Why are you so happy? Oh! Did Alexander ask you out?" She asked.
"What? No, I just had a fight with Austin Hunter and totally beaten him in the fight!" I said.
"What! Is that why you weren't in class? Tell me everything that happen!" She said.
I told her what had happened and what I said to him and Crystal was laughing like crazy.
